Dance 3100: Screendance I second semester projects were due this week ✨ For this second video project, we watched the film, “Paris is Burning” by Jennie Livingston and engaged in readings by bell hooks about gaze, documentary ethics, and personal filmmaking. Students were asked to create a short non-fiction project of their own, integrating poetry or voice alongside movement.

Dance 3100: Screendance I first projects of the semester screened in class this week!✨ For this first project, students watched the film, “Pina” by Wim Wenders then were asked to transform a vignette from the movie into their own project and creative voice. Project themes varied- poetic rumination on climate crisis in Salt Lake City, navigating multiple senses and versions of the self, and dancing internal and external worlds; public and private spaces. Well done to the Screendance class and their teams! 🪩

We want to give a heartfelt shout out and thank you for the support over this past year. We feel incredibly blessed to have so many people be part of these special memories we made: from staff, customers, donors near & far including partners in the community, musicians who graced us with their music — even those four-legged visitors! 🐶 As sad as it is that this chapter has ended — your contributions and support will always remain close to our hearts. ❤️
