Congratulations to Chris White, recipient of the 2026 Estelle Klein Lifetime Achievement Award from Folk Canada ⭐️

As the 2026 Folk Canada Conference continues in Hamilton, Chris is there connecting with fellow artists, broadcasters, and community builders who share his passion for folk music and the power of bringing people together through song.

A longtime member of the CKCU family, Chris has been producing and hosting Canadian Spaces since 2013, sharing folk and roots music with listeners every week on Canada’s longest-running folk radio show. Beyond the airwaves, Chris has served on CKCU’s Board of Directors and continues to support the next generation of broadcasters by mentoring high school students in radio and video production through co-op placements.

His contributions to the folk community span decades, from co-founding the Ottawa Folk Festival and the Home Routes national house concert network to championing community singing and creating opportunities for artists and audiences to connect through music.

We’re proud to celebrate Chris and congratulate him on this outstanding recognition!

Chris White forever 💛

Introducing your first speaker taking the stage at Chaos on November 5: Willemijn Bunskoek.

Willemijn is the Executive Director of @apt613, a community-driven platform that connects thousands of people each month to the power lines of Ottawa’s creative pulse. Originally from the Netherlands, Willemijn has spent the last decade telling stories on many different stages: from festivals and events to book publishing and neighbourhood storytelling. Eternally curious about how culture shapes a city, Willemijn believes in creating space for people to express themselves, leading with empathy and listening with intention to what makes them feel alive.

It takes courage to uproot one’s life, move across the world, and start fresh in a new city. With a colossal change like that, chaos is almost guaranteed to make an appearance. But as Willemijn tells us, there’s an art to finding solace in a space that wants to shake you, and like the subjects of her stories, everyone deserves the chance to be heard.

And that’s just what we’re providing this evening, Willemijn Bunskoek.
