🙇‍♀️I almost quit being a physio within my first 3 months in the field.

I know many physios who are also burnt out, curious, or quietly wondering if there’s a different way to do this work. Because it feels incredibly frustrating to care so much in a field with abunnnndant obstacles to maintaining quality of care.

I had 2 feelings:
1. I love this work too much to do it shittily
2. I don’t feel want to work THAT hard at only mediocre impact for objectively low pay

I would rather do anything else. My first offer out of grad school WITH MY DOCTORATE wasn’t enough to cover my living expenses, loan repayment, and taxes. Something true for so many of us. Why do it?

So I left. I got out ASAP. I needed to take a step back and reevaluate. With a little pandemic chaos, that pushed me to move out of the country.

From here my eyes really opened. I didn’t feel as connected to the US field so I started paying more attention to the international one.

And it changed everything.

The links, the conversations, the perspective, it compounds. And right now, our profession needs people who are thinking bigger.

It’s so refreshing to be in a room of people that care so deeply about the same thing you do. And it once again has left me with that spark that keeps me pushing and innovating consistently.
