HUGE CHANGES IN THE FISH ROOM 😮 Some of you might think I’m crazy, but I’ve decided to reorganize my fish room a bit. Right now, everything still looks pretty chaotic, but I thought I’d give you a little behind-the-scenes look. Over the next few days, I’ll move the last aquarium shelf and then start cleaning up before beginning the new project. I’m still thinking about what to do with the empty wall. Maybe I’ll hang up photos of my fish or add some kind of lettering. Do you have any other ideas? 😊 I wish you and your families a wonderful Easter! Take care and enjoy yourselves! 🐣 _______ #fishbreeding #fishtank #fishroom #cichlids #aquarium

BREEDING APISTOGRAMMA 🐠 Recently I introduced you to many of my Apistogramma species and today I’m showing you some of the ones I currently have in grow-out. Each of the females may be yellow and black, but they’re all completely different. Amazing, right? 😍 I finally have the time to share more details with you in the future, how I set up my fish for breeding, what methods and tools I use, and how I proceed afterwards. Enjoy watching your little ones and have a great weekend! 😊 _______ #apistogramma #apistogrammabreeding #fishbreeder #fishtank #aquariumhobby

NEW CHAPTER 🐠 In the last video, I showed you my grow-out tanks and today we are continuing right away. ⤵️ In this video, I’ll show you how I catch the juveniles from the breeding tanks and then move them into the larger grow-out tanks. 🐠 With 40 breeding tanks, this is a lot of work. That’s why setting up the tanks is one of the most important factors for me. My motto is simple: as natural as possible, but also as efficient as necessary. The real game changer here is the plants tied to the wood. No roots in the substrate, no time-consuming planting during setup, and also a huge advantage when breaking down the tank. This way, the tank is completely empty in less than two minutes. Do you have any tips to make this process even easier? 😊 ______ #fishroom #aquarium #apistogramma #fishbreeder #apistogrammabreeding

FISH ROOM CHAOS 💥 “I’ll just be in the fish room for 5 minutes…” My wife loves this sentence. 😂 Do you know that feeling? You just want to quickly do one little thing on the aquarium and suddenly it escalates a bit and a few hours later you’re standing right in the middle of chaos. 😂 Honestly… sometimes it really does look exactly like this here. One idea leads to another, something gets done on the fly, or I end up doing “just one more” water change. 🫣 Most of the time I try to keep everything neat and tidy, but sometimes things get in the way and that’s totally okay. At the end of the day, there’s only one thing that really matters and that’s that the fish are doing well. 🐠 Whether the room is clean or not doesn’t really matter to the fish. As long as the aquariums are running perfectly, everyone’s happy. 😊 _______ #fishroom #aquariumhobby #fishtank #waterchange #maintenance

I NEED YOUR HELP! ⤵️ One of my biggest „problems” is catching the juveniles. All of my aquariums are fully set up, and up to now I’ve always removed the entire setup from the tank and caught the juveniles with a net. I’ve received a tip from some of you that I could catch the juveniles using a fish trap or a bottle trap. So far it hasn’t really worked, which leads me to the following question: What do I need to change to make it work? Or which type of trap do you use? Thank you very much for your help! 😊 ______ #fishtrap #fishtank #fishbreeder #aquarium #aquariumtips

45 DAYS BREEDING PROCESS 🐠 Over the past 45 days, I’ve captured the development from egg to juvenile fish measuring about one centimeter. 📲 At this size, they are now large enough to be transferred to a bigger grow out fish tank. Toward the end of these six weeks, you can clearly see the juveniles moving more freely around the tank, while the mother becomes noticeably calmer and no longer swims around in an agitated manner. For me, this is the signal that it’s time to move the young fish. 🐠 I let all juveniles be raised by their parents, as I believe this is the most natural and also the most beautiful way of rearing them. How do you handle the rearing of your juvenile fish? 😊 Next week, I’ll show you how I caught the juveniles and how my grow out aquariums are set up and divided. 🙌 ______ #fishbreeding #aquariumfish #cichlids #apistogramma #dwarfcichlids

RARE CICHLIDS 😮 A few weeks ago, I found two exceptional dwarf cichlid species at @zoobox.de. 😍 One of them is a currently undescribed Apistogramma species from Peru and the other a small dwarf cichlid from West Africa. 🐠 This video focuses on the Apistogramma and its acclimation to the aquarium. The species from West Africa will be featured in another video as early as tomorrow! Do you recognize which species this might be? And can you see why I decided not to introduce the female to the male immediately? 😊 _______ #fishtanks #fishroom #aquarium #apistogramma #fishbreeder

WOW! 😍 Crazy how many fry there are, right? At the moment, I’m filming the entire brood-care process of the Apistogramma for you. This species is Apistogramma sp. D21, and in a few months I’ll be able to create a complete video showing the whole process for you. 😊 In the video, you can already see very clearly how the female sends signals that are hidden from us and guides the fry. Super fascinating and beautiful to watch, right? 😍 I hope you’ll enjoy this long-term documentation in the future. 😊 _______ #fishtanks #fishroom #aquarium #apistogramma #fishbreeder

I NEARLY KILLED MY FISH! 😫 Many of you think my fishroom and aquariums are always perfectly maintained… unfortunately, that’s not always the case. 😮 It’s really important to me that everything is clean and the aquariums are set up as best as possible for the fish. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been quite busy and realized I’ve been paying too little attention to the bottom row. Luckily, no major damage: a filter failed, and with the heavy feeding of the juveniles, the surface got all messed up. That shouldn’t happen… How about you? What were your biggest mistakes, and what did you learn from them? Was waren eure größten Fehler und was habt ihr daraus gelernt? 🫣 _______ #aquariumhobby #fishtanks #fishroom #aquarium #apistogramma #fishbreeder #fishbreeding #ornamentalfish #waterchange

RARE FISH SPAWNING 💥 I had actually separated the female only to protect her from the male, and then this happened… 😮 The two just couldn’t wait and spawned despite being separated by the plastic container. For me, it’s incredibly exciting because I can closely observe and document the brood care and the development of the eggs. 🥚 It remains to be seen whether the female will tend the clutch under these conditions, but it was definitely a surprise! What’s the craziest place your fish have ever spawned? 😃 _______ #aquariumhobby #aquarium #apistogramma #fishroom #fishtank #fishkeeper #fishbreeding
