Lately, I’ve been reminded to appreciate life a little more. 🤍 Grateful for love, life - for the people in it, and for every moment we’re blessed to share.

Learning to take each day as it comes, to hold my loved ones a little closer, and to never take time for granted. Missing the ones who are no longer here, but carrying their love and memories with me every day.

Life is precious, love is everything, and every day is a blessing. 🤍

Today we honour a legend of Cloetesville, Stellenbosch - Jayden Oswin Adams.

Jayden came up through the Stellenbosch FC academy, becoming the club’s very first academy graduate to sign a professional contract. From there he went on to represent Mamelodi Sundowns, lifting the South African Premiership in his debut season and, this past May, the CAF Champions League - a medal he dedicated to his close friend and former Stellenbosch teammate, Oshwin Andries, who was killed in 2023. Even in his own moment of triumph, Jayden made sure his friend’s memory was carried with him.

This year, Jayden carried the hopes of a nation to the FIFA World Cup, helping Bafana Bafana reach the knockout rounds for the first time in our history. A proud moment for South African football - and for Cloetesville, the community that shaped him.

Just a day before he took the field against the Czech Republic, Jayden lost his grandmother, Marianna Adams, on 17 June 2026, who played a big role in his life and career. He carried that grief onto the world’s biggest stage with quiet strength, and less than a month later, on 11 July 2026, Jayden passed away himself.

Beyond the pitch, fatherhood was a big part of who Jayden was. In 2021, he and his partner Aqueelah Adendorf welcomed their daughter, Allaia-Jayda, now five years old, and he often shared tender moments with her.

Our thoughts are with Jayden’s family, teammates, and everyone who loved him at this time.

Rest in peace, Jayden. South Africa is proud of you.

*Rest easy, Jayden. 🇿🇦🤎*
I keep thinking about how we only truly connected over the past year — messaging back and forth, even during the World Cup, still talking just last week. I never could have known that would be some of our last conversations ...

Jayden was humble. Reserved. The kind of person who let his actions speak louder than his words — and yet every word he did share made it clear how much he loved his partner, Aqueelah and his young daughter, Allaia and son, Jude. That was who he was at his core, long before the cameras and the crowds.

I was so excited to watch my cousin grow — not just into a World Cup player, but into a legend of this game for years to come. Instead, today we celebrate the legacy he already leaves behind. From Ida’s Valley in Stellenbosch, all the way to the World Cup stage — he inspired our hometown, he inspired the youth of our nation, he carried Bafana Bafana with pride and gave South Africa a gift it will never forget.

Rest in power, Jayden. Your name will be spoken for a long, long time in Ida’s Valley and far beyond. We love you, Grootman❤️.
