Had a wonderful birthday this week and got to celebrate it with so many wonderful people! Look at how lucky i am! A bunch of friends came out for ice cream, Casey and Natalie even baked cookies which i am still eating! I got a birthday song from Alexis & April & Dante! I got smashed in jiu jitsu by world class 5am maniacs! Earlier this month I got to have ice cream with my mom and dad and sisters and nieces and nephews and college friends and their families! I got FaceTimes from my sisters and their kids (sorry i didn't screen grab our call Taylor, I plugged in a photo of Murph to place hold)! Then i notched another week passing on my calendar that reminds me to stay present, grounded, and focused.

My current favorite motivational quote is: Fix the leak before you fill the bucket- which means that quitting your worst habit(s) will have a bigger effect on your life than finding new positive ones; so before you fill the bucket, fix the leaks.

JUNE DUMP

Holy moly what a month! June has been full of adventures with friends. (No i am not dating Walker or Porscha, but oh wow they are stunners!)

I cannot encourage you enough to say yes to traveling with, and for, your friends. The return on that investment is huge. Also, just knocking things off your bucket list when they come around; why put off an experience to ‘one of these days’ when you can check the box this weekend?

June was also a month where i cemented a new motto, ‘Lessons will be repeated until they are learned.” You are going to run up against the same struggle, the same problem, or the same issue in your life over and over until you make the hard decision to learn the lesson and make the change.

Train your body and mind to have the best life possible. BJJ is great for that in so many ways.

Hug your friends and get pictures with them.

Get into nature and charge your battery.

Go to your friends’ shows. Nothing feels better than watching your friends do something amazing. It will inspire you to do something amazing.

Jump out of a plane at least once in your life.

When i moved to Atlanta for Dish Nation i knew i had to embrace a lot of big changes in my life and i decided that to really supercharge the process that i would say yes to things that i hadn’t before. This got me into standup comedy, which i had done before but not consistently. It also got me into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

After training for over a year now, i finally won a match in competition. Just one match, but they still gave me the gold medal so i wasn’t going to turn it down. There is such a difference between training with people you know and who want to see you get better while they also get better and going live in a competition. You can see from the photo cutout how much it took out of me!

I feel very fortunate to have been taken in by our small but mighty team of warriors who train a hard thing at a hard time, 5am every day. It’s so beneficial to find an activity that not only helps to keep you fit, but also provides community. If you don’t have something like that, i can’t recommend it enough.

I also got promoted to Blue Belt, which is still very much a position low on the totem pole, but it shows growth and growth has been the thing i have looked for by saying yes! (In this case, yes to a great coach who invited me to try it out, and then after that, all i did was keep showing up.)

Say yes to new challenges!
