An exhibition by @arata_ito_ @kotaroshimura @amabambubmybugeyes, “AVALANCHE,” will be held at asq unit (@asq_unit) from October 16–18. The title “AVALANCHE” refers to an avalanche. In this exhibition, the phenomenon is understood not as death itself, but as the unpredictability leading toward death, or as an allegorical narrative. The works of each artist emerge from an unavoidable sense of death, or from the experience of a limited life, and are presented as narratives and forms. An avalanche likewise begins with minute changes that draw in and amplify its surroundings, eventually shifting into an irreversible state, and can therefore be understood as a narrative of limited life. The irreversible movement of an avalanche can be seen as analogous to the nonlinear chains of chaos theory, in which minute differences are amplified over time through complex interactions, ultimately resulting in a loss of long-term predictability. While the process may be deterministic, its eventual outcome remains difficult to predict, creating a narrative connection to the unpredictability of chaos theory. This exhibition speaks of microcosmic changes and ruptures within a limited life, and the chains and amplifications they produce, giving rise to unpredictability that eventually manifests as unavoidable death. Through the metaphor of the avalanche, these narratives are presented as stories of irreversibility arising between limited life and death.
