Chiang Mai is a fast growing city and a central hub to many widely celebrated traditions like the Lantern Fest (Yi Peng) and Song Kran Fest (Water Fight). One of the biggest challenge Chiang Mai has been facing is to established a fine balance between celebrating urbanisation while honouring conservation. We are all rooting for you ka Ms. Mai! For you to keep staying this cool while being ever more accessible and transparent. Events like Chiang Mai Design Week is pivotal to helping this city dream. Through the work of each designers/creatives, there’s a common thread of a curated reflection and re-imagination for both Chiang Mai and Thailand. These creativity gives us the language to better appreciate the city’s possibilities and to remain hopeful for better days ahead. Sticks and stones clearly can’t break Ms. Mai’s bone! She’s been thru a lot and that’s how she grows. Let this city’s rich creativity be our promise that Chiang Mai will keep being their best self no matter the odds.
