Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s been four years today since my debut novel, The Exit Strategy launched from @thewildrosepress during the pandemic!

An image from the awesome @sarahlynbruck popped up on my Facebook today which reminded me.

It’s been an amazing four years where I’ve learned the power, resilience, and kindness of the author and reading communities.

If you’ve been part of my journey, - I just wanna take a moment to say thank you so so much ! (including so many more bookstagrammers than the posts I just grabbed here.)

My second book has taken longer than expected, but I’ve found so much more joy in the process then the first time around, and I realize that for me, it’s not about the timing of how many books I bring out how fast.

Sure, the timing thing is hard sometimes when I compare to other friends, authors who are bringing books out so much faster than me. But it’s also a good lesson in reminding myself that everyone’s artistic journey is their own - and comparison is definitely the thief of joy.

I’ve realized that I’m privileged in that writing, while a passion is not all or only about economic return (which it has to be for so many authors).

I’m grateful that I’ve now found ways that I can contribute to helping uplift and support other writers, too. And to help with what is for many their least favorite part - the book marketing! Including with my podcast with @bookmarketingpodcast

Feeling lucky, healthier again, and so grateful on this 4 year book birthday anniversary!

About last night. Dinner first then up to the reception in the library at the @pasadenaplayhouse Thank you to @arballusc for being such a special host. Then watched the Amazing comedy play “One of the Good Ones.” Written by @gloriakellett Even though I teared up a couple of times! This play has all the elements. And of course loved mi compatriota @itscarlosgomez and yes!! He plays a Cuban!!! 💯❤️🇨🇺😀 (ya saben el grito que tuve que aguantarme cuando dijo que era Cubano!!) No tengo remedio.
