Please join us for our first Arcadia Music Club meeting of the school year!

This is a great opportunity to meet other music families, learn more about what’s happening in our music program, and hear important updates about upcoming events, activities, and how AMC supports our students and directors.

We’ll also share information about our budget and fundraising goals, answer questions, and talk about ways families can get involved throughout the year.

☕ Refreshments will be served

We would love to see parents from Band, Orchestra, Percussion, and Color Guard come together and kick off the year with us.
See you then! 😊

Yesterday was an incredibly proud day for the Arcadia Music Club! ❤️💛

One of our very own, Kevin Sherrill, was honored as AUSD Teacher of the Year! 🏆🎶

Year after year, Mr. Sherrill shows our students what it truly means to love what you do. His dedication goes far beyond the classroom. He gives his time, his energy, and his heart to his students, always pushing them to grow, believe in themselves, and reach higher than they thought possible.

Behind so much of the excellence we see from Arcadia Band are countless hours, long days, and a teacher who never stops showing up for his students.

His influence reaches far beyond rehearsals and performances. Through his leadership, encouragement, and passion for music, he has helped shape not only talented musicians, but also confident and dedicated young people.

Congratulations, Mr. Sherrill! This recognition is so incredibly well deserved, and we are so proud to celebrate this achievement with you. ❤️💛

I feel blessed to have an opportunity to start a long journey with these two young men. Brothers William (15) and Mark (10)

They each come with different and unique needs, William had a surgery on his Achilles Tendons on both legs and has grown very tight and his motor patterns are limited and under developed. Mark is a very de-conditioned young man. The result of what we see too often in young children who sit all day in school, sit at the desk doing homework after school, and typically sit and play video games for the remainder of the day.

While they have unique journey’s, they also have zero baseline in fitness and movement, so the medicine is generally similar, in addition having them workout together will help them bond and be accountable.

They come in twice weekly and we always start with the rope.

It really is amazing how you can actually see the Neurological Pathways forming as they figure out these movement patterns. There is a new conversation happening between their brain and their body… and it really is cool to witness.

As a coach, and as a Father myself, I am challenged to make sure that my primary efforts starting this journey with these boys is to be patient and allow them the time and reps to develop and grow. The movements I choose for them are low risk, and self corrective. They will earn better form as they do more. As patient as I try to be, they are still learning a lot!

In two weeks, they have learned Overhand and Underhand Race and Chase, Push Ups, Kettlebell Deadlifts, Sit Ups, Lunges, Incline Bench and Incline Rows.

This clip is their second attempts as learning a Dragon Roll… The goal for utilizing this movement is to teach them to pivot and push off their big toe to change directions.

It’s starting to work.

Arcadia High Marching Band made the news tonight! @cbsla 5 days of hectic traveling and multiple pivoting of plans due to weather conditions. They were able to meet other high school students who also played at the National Museum of US Army! Link available in the comment section

Hello Ms. Chu. The band has spent countless hours rehearsing in excitement to represent California in the 250th National Independence Day, Washington DC parade. Thousands of teen performers from high schools across the country were devastated to learn that their performances were going to be canceled in light of poor weather conditions, and now they have no place to play and demonstrate the hard work they’ve been preparing for years now. If you could, please help us open up the Congressional Auditorium tomorrow in the Capitol so that bands may perform for one another. Since public tours are occurring from 9am-4pm EST, why not give them something to celebrate and listen to during the 4th of July festivities! Please allow us students to hold our own celebration during this time.

Gratefully,

The Arcadia High School Marching Band
