Taking classroom learning into the real world! 🎨✨

Arcadia student Layla F. put her skills as a Studio Art major with a concentration in Graphic Design to work at the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (@septaphilly), serving as an external communications intern in the Wayfinding Department.

This summer, she designed signage for transportation centers and major game events, including the FIFA World Cup (@fifaworldcup) matches held in Philadelphia. The experience helped her strengthen her graphic design skills while introducing her to a new side of the field she had not previously considered.

With Philadelphia just a short trip from campus, professional opportunities are always within reach. Start your career journey at Arcadia by applying today! 🏰

Cinephiles won’t want to miss our second ever Garden Goes Global Film Festival Oct 9th- 11th. On Oct 10th the fest will continue with a pick from Senegal, we’re showing TOUKI BOUKI! Tickets and festival passes are available now at princetongardentheatre.org/global

Thank you to the students @arcadiaartanddesign for creating this amazing original poster for the event!

This landmark of African cinema follows two young lovers in Dakar who dream of escaping to Paris, weaving together realism and surreal, fragmented imagery. Their increasingly desperate attempts to fund their departure unfold in lyrical vignettes that capture the tension between aspiration, identity and postcolonial dislocation. Directed by Djibril Diop Mambéty, TOUKI BOUKI’s restless energy and radical style helped define modernist African cinema for decades to come. In Wolof, Arabic and French w/ subtitles.

Running Friday, Oct. 9th thru Sunday, Oct. 11th, we will be featuring works from nine different countries. Showcasing beloved foreign classics like Godard’s WEEKEND, Ozu’s GOOD MORNING, and Murnau’s FAUST, as well as rarely screened gems like the Finnish melodrama RESTLESS BLOOD or the Senegalese road movie TOUKI BOUKI. The closing reception for “Nesting” is happening this Thursday from 7-9 pm in the Judith Taylor Gallery at Arcadia University!

This show is about my feelings in living between two places: school and home. The show is very special to me, and I hope to see you there!

Lovely song by @hhhendrix - this is one I often return to I’m thinking about being away from home, and then returning.

Senior Thesis is here! And my thesis, Observer, is currently on display along with all the great work of my peers. I’m so proud of them and myself for the show we put together.

To share my work with people this week has been an immensely fulfilling experience.

I still have a bit more to do before my time as an undergrad comes to an end, but I can’t help but see this as a conclusion of sorts.
Since transferring from PAFA, my time at Arcadia wasn’t exactly what I originally had in mind for my college experience. But some of the people I have come to know in the last two years have made a hugely positive impact on my time here and who I have come to be.
My instructors, Abbey and Krista, who uplifted me and gave me the care and space to grow as an artist.
My studio-mate, Callie @callie.draws_ my partner in painting, along with all of my fellow painting seniors I shared the loft with this year.
My wonderful friends, Gertie @g.ertiesmith and Willow @wilma.illustrated some of the best artists and coolest people I know. And simply “the craziest guys here.”
And of course, my lovely partner, Kieran @kieranbarb who helped me hang my work, took most of these pictures, and has just been huge source of unwavering support.

Thank you all especially for this past year. Easily one of the best years of my life in large part, due to you.
