Part 1: process for my Shadow Totem: ‘地 TERROIR / LAND’, that could only be seen at 6PM on this land in the Charente. I wanted to create an object & meeting place and had the idea sparked by a sun dial.

Challenging to work with the unpredictable sun, but achieved it after many adjustments, the shadows are long at this time of the day and moving fast ☀️ lots of awesome chats and meals in between with the residents and people of @boisbuchet. More in part 2 !

SAVE THE DATE:
📍 MAcA – Museo A come Ambiente | Padiglione Verde - Spazio TALK Corso Umbria 90, Torino
🗓️ 26 ottobre 2026, dalle ore 16.00 alle 17.30

FERDINANDEA
🗓️Sabato 10 ottobre 2026
11:00 - 20:30

The Chromaterico collection by @archeomaterico, in collaboration with @chromacomposites, transforms defective garments, unsold clothing, and fabric scraps into Textilite, a durable stone-like material made from recycled textile fibers and natural materials.

Through Chromaterico, Balda shows that textile waste does not have to end up in landfills or incinerators. With thoughtful material research, it can return as something durable, functional, and visually striking.

The collection features the Brandello table, Sfrido bench, and Cencio shelving system, showcasing how waste material can become functional furniture for modern interiors.

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure! On Day 3 of our “Change Your Style, Save the World” exchange, we spent our day visiting a local social fashion center to dive hands-on into the world of upcycling and circular fashion. ✂️

We started with an inspiring presentation on the history of sustainable textiles, followed by a look at specialized machines that break down old fabrics into tiny fibers. These fibers can be repurposed into new garments or even used as nutrient-rich soil to grow plants like beans, herbs, and flowers—showing just how far clothing recycling can go beyond fashion and into our daily lives! Next, we put our creativity and new sewing skills to the test in a DIY workshop, crafting plush animals and restyling unique clothing pieces from repurposed materials. To top off the visit, everyone got to explore their vintage shop and pick two items to take home for free. A huge thank you to our host @assoutentiliguria for welcoming us, sharing their expertise, and leaving us with great memories, practical DIY skills, and endless green inspiration! 🌱

Chromaterico Textile Objects applies Textilite, a composite developed by Archeomaterico (Davide Balda) @archeomaterico and Chroma Composites @chromacomposites, to a series of furniture and objects made from recycled textile waste. Discarded garments, production offcuts, and unsold textiles are mechanically ground into mixed fibers and consolidated through the proprietary Mersus process, producing a stone-like material with the structural properties required for furniture, interior applications, and architectural components.
