The weather was kind to us today to allow me a final outdoors session before Buckeye next weekend.
Need to work on eliminating those outliers and just taking my time. Feel good about this coming weekend. Thanks to @alwynkirk for his continued support. Thanks to @archeryinthegap for the use of your lovely range to train. First time in months and I will definitely be back to continue my training.

To everyone looking to try archery or just for a fun evening, go to @archeryinthegap and book your slot today to have some fun. You may be fortunate enough to run into @kirktjksc and @alwynkirk during their training sessions and get further insight into this wonderful sport if that’s of interest to you.

The Ministry of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs officially launched the Barbados National Senior Games 2026 on June 22, 2026, at its headquarters in Warrens. Now in its 22nd edition since its inception in 2002, the Games promise to be bigger and better than ever, offering a diverse range of activities designed to promote active ageing and healthy lifestyles among older Barbadians.

Present at the launch were the Hon. Adrian Forde, MP Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs; senior officials of the Ministry; Coordinator of the Games, Mr. Kamal Clarke; Sports Advisor, Ms. Ytannia Wiggins; and representatives from various sporting associations.

Delivering welcome remarks the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Wayne Marshall highlighted the Ministry's vision for the initiative.

"The Senior Games is an initiative designed to promote active and healthy lifestyles among Barbados' senior community through a series of engaging sporting, wellness, and community-based activities," he stated.

Coordinator of the Games, Mr. Kamal Clarke, encouraged all Barbadians aged 45 and over to participate in this year's activities, noting that several new events have been added to the programme.

Among the highlights will be Q in the Community at the Sir Garfield Sobers Gymnasium on July 2, a motorcade, a 5K walk, and a major track and field meet scheduled for August 29. Additional activities will be announced in the coming weeks. Mr. Clarke emphasized that there is truly something for everyone and noted that the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) and Q in the Community will partner with the Games this year.

In his address, Minister Adrian Forde praised the success and growth of the National Senior Games over the years and reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to its continued development.

He called on older Barbadians to embrace active ageing and seize the opportunity to showcase their talents, determination, and competitive spirit. He noted that the Games seek to promote healthy lifestyles, social inclusion, wellness, and lifelong participation in physical activity, including opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Delivering the Vote of Thanks, Sports Advisor Ms. Y

The Vegas shoot was everything amazing! The best part? The people, old friends and new faces who make this community priceless.

The journey threw some mechanical curveballs my way, I kept pushing. Not every ending looks like the one you planned, but that’s archery. That’s competing. You adapt, you push through, and you don’t let gear define your fight. Thank you to @truball_axcel for making it right. Service like that is everything to me.

Deep thanks to the companies, family, and friends who keep me in this journey.
