Everything I do, I do in honor of my late mother Ramona. She owned and operated Salon Pastiche in Rogers Park for 25 years at 1226 W. Loyola. Any day now, Loyola University plans to demolish this historic building that has housed generations of Rogers Park residents and small businesses just like my mom’s, Salon Pastiche.

It’s important we elect leaders with roots in our communities who will fight for those communities - people like me who know the history of our neighborhoods block by block. I stood with our community members for years as we fought against the eviction of the residents and businesses in this building. I’m running for Congress to be that kind of champion, for all of the mothers, small business owners, and families like mine across the 9th District who do not want to be displaced.
