It’s been 3 years. Stillness, for far too long. Stillness, that grew from indolence and felt good initially; but then, it became uncomfortable. Stillness, that remains a tad bit unjustified.

I hope you all are doing well. As kids, we all aspired to be grown-ups, make our own decisions, lead life our way. As humans, we fascinate over new things, that attitude remain still, even as years pass by and we grow older. But in the process of growing up, in the process of experiencing firsts, do we rush ourselves a bit too much? Have stillness been lost amidst this rat race?

Develop a mental picture of the following. Slow walking amidst a world where things are getting rushed. You will feel left behind, unable to ever reach the finish line, your goals. In contrast, the world being static but frenzy erupting inside, is the rat-race that we’re experiencing. We’re crashing into each other, trying to be the first to reach the finish line, eventually dragging us all down.

We’ve forged a vicious cycle of life, by forgetting stillness and embodying rush.

Calamities have always united us. The pandemic wrecked the world, but people came closer, we embraced stillness. The morning after a stormy night, embraces stillness, emphasises on the peace. The falling of droplets of water, after rains rave a town, the breeze hitting your face while driving on the highway, all give a sense of stillness, a sense of peace, a sense of warmth, away from the ravaging fires of rush that has engulfed the basic meaning of life.

With time, we realise what we are, a speck of dust in this universe. In trying to be the best version of ourselves, we fall to the allure of rush, we collide and tear apart each other and form a storm, one that ravages all. Stillness is not a precursor of laziness as stillness calls for taking things slowly, doing our best without waking up the worst in us. Rush has evoked undesirable emotions in us and the earlier we realise that, the world would be better, kinder and safer for all.
I’m not the biggest fan of rains. But often, the calmness, the tranquility that follows a drizzle, have made me appreciate stillness, as an element so desired to soothe the pains of chaos.
