If you’ve noticed, I’ve been a little MIA. On April 29th, I lost the first man I’ve ever loved. The only man I’ve loved my entire life: my dad. Today, my sister and I lay our dad down to rest. The pain I feel and have felt is unbearable. Nothing I’ve ever experienced in my life. My dad always seemed invincible, so losing him was never a thought. We had so much to do, so much to experience together, so much of my growth for you to watch. I hate that it’s over. It just keeps settling in. I miss you every minute of every day, daddy. I think about you nonstop. 🕊🤍
My dad was one of the funniest ppl I’ve ever known. He used to crack jokes on everybody. Then I got older and realized it was time for me to hit him with the same energy and we were rolling ever since. Every conversation was full of laughter. I got my quick wit and part of my funny from him. My dad was FLYYY. Dressed to the nines at any time. So the apple (me) didn’t fall too far from the tree (him) in the fashion department. He was the coolest person I’ve known. His walk, his talk, his persona. He had the most beautiful voice and he wasn’t too proud to show it. He was so creative and intelligent, and I know some of that rubbed off on me. I never believed he and I were alike until time progressed. We were the same person.
🕊🤍
I never thought that I only had one week after visiting my dad. I never thought I only had a few days after my last FaceTime. A week after our last “I love you more than you know” text. Being human, I thought I had time... Take it from me, hug your loved ones tight fr. If you miss them, tell them. If you love them, make sure they know. Check on your friends, family, everyone. Because for me, loss of a loved one seemed like something you only heard about on TV or social media, it never felt real until losing my dad became the first real loss I had to experience. 🕊🤍
I thank God that I have memories to look back on that make me sad at times but also make me laugh. He and I had our ups and downs being 2 strong-willed and strong-minded Virgos that were so similar, but I thank God that I got to experience that man and call him my dad. I know my dad is in a way better place. I thank Go
