Ariana Vaeth is one of the artists featured in our current group exhibit - Interior Spaces - on dispal through September 13, 2026.

Ariana Vaeth is a Baltimore-raised artist focused on contemporary narrative through the self-portrait. Her work presents an entanglement of tender interactions between friends, family, and chosen-family.

Vaeth received her undergraduate degree from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. Her junior year, she completed a semester at the Maryland Institute of Art and Design in Baltimore though the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD) Exchange program.

She’s had solo exhibitions in Wisconsin at the Miller Art Museum in Door County and at Lynden Sculpture Garden and Haggerty Museums in Milwaukee.

Vaeth is a 2018 “Emerging Artist” Mary Nohl Fellow and received the gener8tor Art creative entrepreneurial grant the following year. She also received a 2020 Wisconsin Visual Art Achievement Award. Her fall of 2021 was enriched a love for sewing and life study in Door County at the Al & Mickey Quinlan studio and housing residency.

Including the work of Ariana Vaeth, Jonathan Wilde, George Shipperley, Alicia Czechowski, Barry Roal Carlsen, Richard Jones, Mary Fischer, Rob Cartelli, Jessica Calderwood, Lisa Belsky, Yeonsoo Kim, Wendy Olson, Josie Jurczenia

Please join us for the opening reception, Friday, August 7 from 5-8pm at Abel Contemporary.

This exhibition focuses on artworks that use interior spaces as their subject matter or inspiration, exploring how our homes shape our daily routines and relationships. Some of the work in this show will depict interiors and others will focus on the rituals of everyday living—from morning routines to shared meals—and how these repeated actions create meaning and connection within our private environments. The show presents varied perspectives on comfort, routine, and the relationships we build within the walls we call home.

We LOVED Camden, Maine and like most places, the people were the best part! We drove up for the opening of Where We Are Free curated by @breehanjames @pagegallery , a show about female friendships that I have been waiting for my whole life. It was wonderful to meet some of the other artists and to see friends @daniellemysliwiecstudio and @markjoshuaepstein who happened to be in town. Thank you @cpageart for hosting us for dinner afterwards- What an incredible community to be part of. We visited Rockland and saw Barbara Sullivan’s @imagesofwork beautiful show (we wanted to buy so many pieces) @caldbeckgallery and then we got to meet her! Lastly we went to see an old friend and great painter @gideon.bok The show is up through August 14th, so go check it out if you are visiting Midcoast, ME this summer.

Happy Vernal New Year everyone!! ☀️⚖️🌕

The past year has been absolute insanity—and the rot persists, but so do we.

I get so many confused looks—people grasping at straws to try to fit my output into the hegemonic frameworks that prevade American society—and I'm honestly at my wit's end 😣—the rot persists, but so do I.

As I look to this new year of growth, I'm trying to figure out what I can do to spread the information and understanding I've acquired over the years. Might start a blog—idk.

Happy Wednesday! We’ve got 34 meetups of all sorts and from all across the city on this week’s MKE Meetups List.

We’re also fortunate to feature the work of local figurative painter @arianavaeth, whose paintings focus on the tender interactions between friends, family, and chosen-family (and who has a solo show up at the Gail F Steinhilber Art Gallery in Oshkosh right now, if you find yourself in the area).
