Hello. Here are some pictures of me in a castle. #gothichorror Short weekend getaway. City was getting a bit much. Do you know what I mean. Castle was great, I am starting to think I would like a palatial building of my own. I like when it takes you three minutes to get to the kitchen, it’s kind of exciting. Ariel is fantastic and I want to live with her, I love you #castle #castle #whereisthebathroom #ikeepgettinglost #summervacation Thank you Heinrich

Koncierge visits Passage Residency @passage.residency

In August, we had the opportunity to spend a weekend at the Passage Residency in Willdebadessen, hosted by Heinrich @heinrichvonwrede and Victor @victor_auberjonois.

As part of their residency program, Heinrich and Victor invite artists working in various media to spend a few weeks in the summer working at Willdebadessen Castle, away from the city and surrounded by nature.

The residency takes place inside Schloss Willebadessen, a former Benedictine convent founded in 1149, later rebuilt in the Baroque period, and secularised in 1810.

The exhibition Come Closer was the result of the workshop Production and Project Management in Exhibitions – Practice, organized by students from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. The show brings together works rooted in careful observation, material sensitivity, and time-intensive processes. Across the exhibition, each piece—whether carved, printed, assembled, or collected—quietly insists on slowness and presence. These are not works that shout; instead, they ask for attention, inviting viewers to lean in. Some ask to be read, others suggest touch, others offer a glimpse—each extending an invitation to come closer.

The concept of the show stretches into sustainability and adaptation, with artists exploring intricate structures, minute details, and subtle shifts in scale. Andreas Sahl Andersen confronts the monumental status of objects with a grounded, personal approach. Gwiyeon Han engages in symbolic and poetic reflection through the image of the dandelion, while Buket Ozalevli invokes the optical illusion of the thaumatrope to examine fluid perceptions and shifting values.Prima Mathawabhan reflects on technological progress with irony, confronting obsolescence, a theme echoed in Hannah Heiermann’s uncanny replica of the rector’s office—a space stripped of its authority. Tao Iver’s carved ear speaks to bodily awareness and the isolating facets of human experience, while Ana Matos’s Teresa’s Grave gently evokes remembrance and the persistence of memory.

The exhibition closes with a collective gesture toward fragility and movement. Works by Kathrin Hanga, Ariel Shefi, Emil Eckert, Yixuan Hu, Neda Trabizi, Esther Vörösmarty, Gyuri Yang, and Wenfei Zhao embrace formats that are smaller, more flexible—able to exist beyond fixed locations and travel lightly. Together, they suggest a shift in practice: one that values intimacy, adaptability, and the quiet power of close attention.
