Instagram makes this look beautiful. And a lot of the time, it is. But there’s a side to building a brand that rarely makes it into a photo.

I read these words (second slide) by Ariel Kaye, founder of Parachute, this week and they hit me hard. Because they’re so true. When you’re a founder, the business isn’t separate from you. Its wins feel like your wins. Its harder days feel like yours too.

What’s surprised me most on this journey isn’t the creative side, it’s how much I’ve come to love the business of it. How much I love building this brand. Building something from nothing, learning as I go, figuring out what works. I didn’t expect that to be one of the things I love most.

I want to keep showing you the beautiful parts, because they’re real. But I also want to be honest that there’s a quieter, much harder side behind it. If you’re building something of your own and know that feeling, I’d love to hear from you. I’ve always found that it helps to talk to people who understand it from the inside.
