Texas Renaissance Festival Day✌🏼- we enjoyed high tea with King Henry, ate lots of amazing food, shopped, watched the joust and a burlesque show. If you ever have a chance to attend the largest ren faire in the world I highly recommend 🧚🏼‍♀️🪻⚔️🧞‍♀️👑🦄🛡️🐴🍄✨🧜🏼‍♀️🐍🦚🌻🍇🥨🫖🔮⚜️

Today’s bridal parties walk the aisle in a wide variety of colors. But it wasn’t always that way.

When England’s Queen Victoria was preparing to marry Prince Albert in 1840, she is said to have helped to design her bridesmaids’ white dresses and her own white gown. That helped popularize white for brides and wedding parties.

Soon, bridesmaids’ dresses were being designed to look like less-extravagant versions of the bride’s gown. Bridesmaids even wore veils, just shorter than the bride’s.

Then fabric dyes in vibrant colors became affordable for the non-wealthy. That’s when brides started experimenting with new hues for the wedding party.

By the 1940s, a new tradition was firmly in place: white was reserved for the bride alone.

Now in American culture, it’s seen as a gaffe for anyone else at a wedding to wear white. Our eyes are naturally drawn to white. And wearing white can be seen as an attempt to call attention away from the center of Wedding Day attention—the lovely bride.
