Books featuring women playing hockey to fill the void now that the Olympics is over (until the PWHL comes back)

In 2024 I got into women's hockey and I've been basically obsessed since. (Let's go Fleet! @pwhl_fleet @thepwhlofficial). Whether you are new to the sport or been a long time fan, here are some romance books featuring women playing and absolutely dominating in hockey.

These are basically every book I know of with women playing hockey so if you have more recommendations please drop them in the comments!

💚 This is also my formal invitation for everyone to join me as a fan of the Boston Fleet. I need more people to talk to about it!

💬Did you watch the Olympics? What's your favorite olympic sport?

What’s your favourite winter sport? And do you know any fitting books? ❄️

We are in the middle of the Olympic Wintergames and before I talk about my favourite disciplines, I want to take a moment to address the IOC and how, like every major sports federation, their ethics are questionable.

Vladyslav Heraskevych was disqualified from the 2026 Olympics for using a custom helmet depicting Ukrainian athletes killed during Russia’s full-scale war.
According to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), this violated the Olympic Charter. They state: “It is a fundamental principle that sport at the Olympic Games is neutral and must be separate from political, religious and any other type of interference. Specifically, the focus on the field of play during competitions and official ceremonies must be on celebrating athletes’ performances.”

But they conveniently forget that sport is — and always will be — political.

Another example: German speed skater Josephine Schlörb had to change her shoes because "political messages" are not allowed. Her shoes were covered with statements such as “Hate is not an opinion. Discrimination is a crime.”

While Russian and Israeli athletes are still allowed to compete with insufficient or in the latter case no background checks, it is frustrating to see the IOC act with such obvious bias. And there is much more happening that is deeply unfair. Don't get me started on the USA Ice Hockey Team...

Books mentioned:

Skeleton - Guillotine by Delilah S. Dawson & The Six Deaths of the Saint by Alix. E. Harrow
Ice Skating - It’s a Love/Skate Relationship by Carli J. Corson & The Second Death of Locke by V.L. Bovalino
Curling - Unloved by Peyton Corinne
Alpine Skiing - Katabasis by R.F. Kuang & Victorian Psycho by Virginia Feito
Ice Hockey - A Good Puck by Rochelle Wolf, Like a Power Play by Elle Sprinkle & Calling the Shots by Kelly Farmer

Since today is THE day of romance (thanks, capitalism), I’ve put together a massive collection of contemporary sapphic titles for every mood: corporate rivals, school nemeses, "we have to fake date for the plot", grumpy x sunshine, and obviously forced proximity because there was only one bed.

My favorite trope is definitely enemies to lovers.

And I mean ACTUAL enemies—give me "I will ruin your career" energy, not just some mild "we had a disagreement at the coffee shop" vibes...

What about you? What’s your favorite romance trope?
