Can’t believe I never posted this but a friend of mine wrote a gorgeous poem about queerness and I liked it so much I designed it to be a print! Made on Procreate for iPad.

Image description:
Making up the background is a purple/pink/teal nebula-cloud covering the page. On top of that, not always visible, is “I hope they never understand us” in purple pixelated font repeated down the page. At the top, “Fields of Lavender” is in a purple pixelated font. The poem is in the same pixelated font, colored white. Around the poem are illustrations: two of the male symbols in different shades of blue connect near the top center, two female symbols in different shades of pink connect to the top right, two hands of different skin tones are clasped closer to the center, with one hand’s nails painted with the rainbow, lesbian, gay, and nonbinary pride flags, at the bottom are lavender stalks, and under the writer’s name, liquid or syrup in the colors of the trans flag drip down.

Fields of Lavender
It is not the same
When I am a man loved by a man
When I have been a woman who loves women
Or a woman who loves a man who also loves men
It’s flavorful
I speak politics with where my finger tips trail
This love is so loud
It deafens me
When the sound rolls over me
Like the ocean rocking me into internal sleep
Queer hands hold me together
Because they are linked to me across the cosmos
It’s so much grander than one could ever know
We love differently
We love politically even when we wish we didn’t
A man with no queer energy
Cannot feel my skin
In a way that makes flowers bloom across it
Fields of Lavender come to life
When you touch me
In the way that only you also understand
I hope they never understand us
It is never like the books
Like the movies
We’re not in them
We make our own stories
Modern life lived in sapphic fantasy
Dripping trans syrup
We make it sticky
And we eat it up!

And there goes my fall contract at Cedar Point! 🍂🍁———————————————————————————-
This fall was a blast with getting to work with existing people I hold dear and meet so many new faces that will now be in my life for years to come. Learned so much both on and off the clock that I can not wait to take with me to the next chapter!
See you later Ohio!
