“The best way to do it, is to do it" She was only the 16th woman to earn a pilot license. She logged multiple record breaking flights in altitude, speed and distance, later becoming the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She enjoyed being an intentional role model for young girls, a successful author and co- founder of the Ninety-Nines, an organization encouraging female aviators. On June 1, 1937 she left Miami with plans to become the first woman to fly solo around the world. With only 7,000 miles remaining, just a few weeks shy of her 40th birthday, her plane lost radio contact near the Howland Islands and was never found. After months of exhaustive searching, rescue and recovery efforts were called off due to inclement weather. Her disappearance remains one of the biggest mysteries of the 19th century. It's only fitting to salute Amelia Earhart on what would have been her 123rd birthday. 📷Ninety Nines Headquarters #ameliaearhart #shediditfirst #womenleading #LeadHERboard #womenpilot #recordbreaker #legacy #ninetynines #womenofhistory #legend #pioneer #pilot #equalitycantwait #rolemodel #mystery
