The Draft is almost a month away so here is my first mock draft for 2026. One big question does Essendon bid on Cody Walker with Carlton not having the points to match the bid?

Draft talks are heating up and here are my October Draft Rankings.

The draft combine saw players bolster their stocks, and Sam Gayfer was one of them. Attracting strong interest from many clubs as arguably one of, if not the best Key Forward this year, he pushes into my top 10.

Despite Tiger talks building with Harry Van-Hattum, I still believe if Ethan Drever is available, they take him.

An interesting next month ahead, as we start to learn more about who’s keen on who.

Note this ranking hasn’t considered any compo picks - with port landing pick 5 for Butters as a real possibility. I have accounted for bids.

Bids are back and this is how I think the draft would play out as of now.

📈 Some big games from Will Malady as he pushes into the top 10.
🤝 Ethan Dreaver has had an outstanding month as he pushes into a top 5 position
✅ Heath Mellody is continuing to impress scouts as he pushes towards the end of the season.

Who did I miss 🤷‍♂️

🏆 APS Boys First XVIII — 2026 GRAND FINAL

What a way to finish the 2026 APS football season! ☀️🏉

[post 3 of 3]

Under perfect blue skies, Brighton Grammar School and Caulfield Grammar School went head-to-head in a Grand Final worthy of the occasion — with a packed crowd, electric atmosphere and two armies of passionate students creating an incredible backdrop to the biggest game of the season.

The undefeated BGS entered the Grand Final as deserved favourites, strengthened by the return of inspirational captain Arki Butler and leading goal scorer Jake Miller, alongside the consistently outstanding contributions of Tyson Bradley, Riley Stratford, Jasper Williams, Archie Bakoulas and many more.

But Caulfield Grammar arrived with plenty of confidence of their own, having won seven straight games heading into the Big Dance. They had earned their place in the Grand Final as one of the competition’s two standout teams.

BGS made the stronger start, leading 3.4 (22) to 1.3 (9) at quarter-time. Caulfield fought back hard, but Brighton maintained control to lead by 22 points at three-quarter time.

The final term produced a thrilling finish as Caulfield threw everything at the reigning favourites. They closed the gap dramatically, but Brighton held their nerve when it mattered most.

🔔 FINAL SIREN:
🔴🔵 BGS — 10.12 (72)
🔵⚪️ CGS — 9.9 (63)

Another premiership flag now takes its place among the growing collection on the BGS pavilion balcony.

Congratulations to both schools on an outstanding Grand Final and an incredible season. 👏
