MARATHON TRAINING ➡️ HYROX TRAINING?

Finished your marathon and ready for your next challenge? Here’s how to make the transition from endurance athlete to hyrox athlete.

Don’t ditch your running fitness
Your aerobic engine is one of your biggest assets. Keep 2–3 runs in your week, but shift the focus from long miles to shorter, more purposeful sessions, including intervals and compromised running.

Build your strength progressively
Marathon training is great for endurance, but Hyrox demands strength under fatigue. Start building your squats, lunges, sled pushes and pulls, carries and wall balls. Build the load gradually rather than trying to do everything at once.

Learn to run on tired legs
Hyrox isn’t just about how fast you can run fresh. It’s about running well after eight functional workout stations. Introduce compromised running gradually, pairing short runs with exercises such as lunges, burpees or sled work.

Recover before you ramp it up
Don’t jump straight from marathon race day into high-intensity hyrox sessions. Take time to recover, particularly if you’ve raced hard, then progressively reintroduce strength and intensity. More training isn’t always better!

Train for the demands of the race
Hyrox is a combination of 8 x 1km runs and 8 functional workout stations. Your training needs to reflect that. Practise pacing, transitions, grip strength, wall balls and race-specific combinations so you can perform when fatigue kicks in.

REMEMBER: You’ve already built the engine. Now it’s time to build the strength, power and skills to match it.

Your marathon fitness isn’t wasted — it’s your foundation.

Save this for your next training block and tag someone making the switch from marathon to HYROX!

trusting the process.

10 weeks of getting my feet back on the ground. 10 weeks of building back from @mdslegendary 271km in the Sahara desert.

i knew it was going to be hard but you can push through anything if what’s on the other side matters enough.

may take a while but all you need to be is willing.

7 days until my first race back

@cphhalf we ready.

If you can’t go a day without thinking about it do not go a day without working for it.
