Slurs! The queer community has a difficult relationship with them, and with good reason. Conservatism rises across the globe and more and more reports about rising intolerance towards the LGBTQIA+ community come out every day. Verbal and physical harassment is back with a vengeance (although that never really was gone).
Still, one of my favorite things we do as a community is reclaiming the slurs we get thrown at us. Be it as a term of endearment (I love my little F-slur friends) or empowerment (yes, I am all that, what about it?). It's not something everyone agrees with, but I think it's a good thing to take away some of the hurt behind these words and transform them into something you say among friends.
With all that in mind I made this batch of mini posters. Featuring a lovely selection of six different words on three different colors and surrounded by a paisley pattern reminiscent of the classic hanky code, you can pick a card and find your surprise slur, lottery style! because you never know which slur might come your way out there.
Printed at @topocopy , featuring words printed using the collection of @industriemuseumgent during the @plica.vzw workshop led by the lovely @arm_79 . Feeling very blessed with all their trust and aid in creating this Bad Words™ project. From my fruity heart to yours 😘
