And just like that our little boy is a graduate. Incredible day of awards & celebration with family friends and a school that is like a family. Super proud of Hudson for all he has accomplished and what is yet to come as he heads to the West coast in the fall.

Discovery Days at Dal 🧠🔬✨

This week, MAP had the opportunity to help run interactive neuroscience and anatomy stations for visiting high school students as part of Discovery Days at Dalhousie University!

Discovery Days are outreach events that give students the opportunity to explore different areas of science through hands-on activities, conversations with students and researchers, and interactive learning experiences across campus. During the event, students rotated through four different Psychology & Neuroscience stations to learn more about the brain, perception, movement, and research.

Our station included:

🧠🫀 Brain & Heart anatomy

👀🛞 Persistence of vision demo

🔬🔎 Real brain cross-sections from Dr. Kevin Duffy’s research
🎓💡 Presentation about the Duffy Lab, Student Leadership Academy, and MAP

Other stations included:
🧠⚡ Viewing brain activity using fNIRS
🤖🔌 Using a Human-Human Interface to control another person’s muscle activation
👀👓 Prism goggles and visual perception activities

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the experience possible, ESPECIALLY our amazing volunteers John and Amelia!
We’re so grateful for the time, energy, and enthusiasm they brought to the event 💙

We strongly believe that exposure and access matter. Opportunities like this allow students to ask questions, explore new interests, and see themselves in spaces they may not have previously imagined.

Thank you again to the Department of Psychology & Neuroscience at Dalhousie for having us, and a special thank you to Dr. Kevin Leblanc for the opportunity to be involved! 💛
