Our first @ontariopowerliftingassociation sanctioned meet!

Still overwhelmed by the support our gym and powerlifting community lent to make this one a success.

Volunteers helped us strip half the gym, moved thousands of pounds to the venue, helped us get set up and organized AND spent their Saturday at the venue to help keep us organized, run the event and keep the athletes safe. After a long day, we had volunteers help us load the truck back up and piece our gym back together for our Sunday team training session.

Our sponsors made significant contributions to help us keep costs down, and to spoil our athletes and spectators.

@clintpettigrew_royallepageteam and @titan.concrete_construction purchased materials and helped assemble our main platform.

@arnpriorchiro provided free treatment for athletes and volunteers.

@caffeine_queen_coaching supplied the medals for athletes and coffee for our volunteers.

@cleangrip.ca supplied their premium chalk for the platform, warmup room and best lifters. Athletes even got to try out their new block chalk the week that it was released.

@innerstrengthproducts provided t-shirts for our platform crew and some of our volunteers.

@paigerkw gave podium winners free access to her nutrition/recipe ebook.

@mallardsmilkbar was set up on site with a special menu tailored to powerlifters.

A special shoutout goes to @mohammedbelhouari for providing photo packages to athletes, and to @trulynero for hooking up and maintaining the livestream.

We had a blast, and cant wait to host another.

Sharing what I did yesterday. I completed a Hyrox sim race. This was an amazing experience and I am so proud of what I've been able to achieve in the last year and a half.

I feel like I have always been strong and athletic but for 25 years, migraines took over my life. 25 years ago they started creeping in regularly then I was averaging 5 migraines per week. I slowly had to cut back on teaching fitness classes and anything extra or fun in my life. This one time someone said to me "what's wrong with you? Do you have "another headache"? That really stuck with me. That's when I realized that no one will ever understand what I'm going through so I suffered in silence. Sometimes I couldn't hide it and other times I pushed through my day then drove home with ice packs on my head and face.
I went through years of trying different medications with so many side effects. ( I won't go through them but you can message me if you're curious about them ).
One of the last ones I tried was the worst one of all and still affects me to this day. About a year and a half ago, I tried a new medication in Canada. About a month in, Troy said to me " the blackness and tiredness in your eyes is gone". Then I realized I was a week with no migraines. That week turned into 2 weeks and so on. I've had approx 10 migraines in a year and a half compared to 5 a week. This is a feeling of having my life back. I knew I was now able to train how I wanted to train and train harder than I ever have before.
I started my new fitness journey with @regymen.kanata I didn't know what I was going to train for but I knew it was going to be something good. Regymen has really set me up for success.

Hyrox took over my tiktok algorithm so I decided that could be a goal. Thank you @heatherlclayton for doing this with me, never saying no, and pushing your limits with me, whether we are racing or training.
Huge shout out to my training partners @mmmmmballer and @rcorneau . I can't wait to see what we can do next.
Another shout out to Dr. Knapp @arnpriorchiro . When the training injuries started early, he was able to get me back to training quickly. I'm sure I'll be back again soon.
