The pretty pink and highly scented Daphne bholua ‘Jacqueline Postill’ is just what's needed to lift the spirits at this time of year. Photographed here in the Winter Garden against the backdrop of the Muniment Room. This beautiful cultivar was propagated by Alan Postill who worked for Hillier Nurseries in Hampshire for over 50 years. He named it after his wife Jaqueline. Daphne bholua, also known as the Nepalese paper plant, belongs to the genus Daphne of the family Thymelaeaceae. In the wild it grows at altitudes of 1,700–3,500 m in the Himalayas and neighbouring mountain ranges, from Nepal to southern China. Hence it can withstand temperatures as low as -10 degrees. Any colder, athough resilient, the shrubs may lose their leaves. Daphnes are also resentful of root disturbance and thrive best when planted in permanent positions, as this specimen has for many years ❄️ . . . #propagationsuccess #daphne #prettyinpink #winter #wintergarden #flower #pink #scented #pinkflowers #pinkflowers🌸 #winterflower #flowers #shrub #january #perfumed #wintershrub #uplifting #cheering #plant #plantsmakepeoplehappy #plantlovers #himalayan #gardenphotography @andreajonesgardenphotography
