🎬 ARRIVAL — NOW OUT 🎙️

Everyone says Arrival is a masterpiece.

But… do I agree? 🤔

In the latest episode of Watched Rated Reviewed, I’m talking about Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival — the aliens, the language, the big ideas, and whether this movie actually deserves all the praise it gets.

Is it a brilliant piece of science fiction… or a movie that gets a little too much credit?

i’ve been thinking a lot about why uncertainty works so well in sci-fi and horror, and it’s because the thing terrifying us it’s the fact that we don’t always have enough information to understand it yet.

which is maybe why these movies get under my skin so badly because unfortunately i personally would like the universe to send me a detailed pdf explaining every situation within 3-5 business minutes!!! anyway.

⭐️ coherence keeps multiplying the possible answers

⭐️ arrival makes understanding itself the problem

⭐️ nope lets us experience the difference between fearing something we don’t understand and finally learning its rules

⭐️ the thing makes certainty about another human being impossible

⭐️ annihilation refuses to tell us why things are changing

which movie made you the most desperate for answers? ⭐️ full article on my substack linked in bio
