Currently they are interested in queer identity, energy drinks, folklore and silliness. We are very excited to announce the incoming CAT studio residents for 2026: Arrow Bisset, Jacob O'Shannassy and Joey.Spl! Each artist has been awarded a one-year studio and will join current two-year resident Sara Morawetz (2025–26) in the program. The three artists were selected by a panel of internal and external peers with the aim of supporting innovative artists at key moments in the development of their practices. We can’t wait to see what Arrow, Jacob and Joey develop over the year ahead. HEY⭐ this is opening on saturday, a very sweet & exciting exhibition i've curated of real life trans & gender diverse angels who make wonderful art. feeling extremely honoured to present this at the good grief gallery as part of AUSPATH's national conference program on trans health. here's a tiny excerpt from an essay i'm writing about it: "This exhibition follows Susan Stryker’s sentiment surrounding trans myths of origin, asking how trans and gender-diverse artists explore the concept of affirmation through language, body, and form. Like the body itself, words are flexible, changeable, and inventive. The term Trans is an umbrella, a practice, a story that is continuously rewritten. For some, it is that arrival place; for others, a departure from singularity. Bodies too, flexibly, take many forms -- forms that do not always require or desire medical intervention to be real, legible, or affirmed. Our myths of origin, as Stryker phrases it, shape how we conceive ourselves, and they appear everywhere in these diverse works: manifested in objects, gestures, figures, avatars and processes that insist on presence, care, and visibility." seeya there x

GROUP SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT: Infinity Window The artists, in the loving care of Black Spark, gathered for Infinity Window are engaged in methods of unknowing. Glass work, loose paint, handmade paper, boiled books, recycled oppshop convases, shared altars, communal wrongheadedness and ways of mutation are some of our tools. Tracing images of spirit without tradition or container, rendering Godheads while protecting the autonomy of the unnamed experience. Documenting energy equally in ignorance and awareness of what is taking place. The infinity window is like the nowhere door. There is no path of transcendence, no path of enlightenment, no path at all. A nowhere door opens when you no longer wish to escape. The infinity window appears above the sickbed, making emptiness and revealing the speechlessness, the motionlessness of infinity. These words are just a small trick to get away with not explaining anything. Come and see. They have inspired + motivated me in a big way here in the Southern Lands + I am delighted (+ nervous) to lay down some ambience + sing some new material for this special night. A most harmonious and glorious @sophiebisset.soprano will be singing 3 Swan themed Arias too (wow) 🫒 ✨️✨️✨️✨️ One of the 6 songs I will play I have been writing with @nikkarlin these past few months. Potentially the most important piece I've ever worked on... I will play it for the first time tomorrow. It is called 'EPIDEMIC'. Arrows work is GORGEOUS and they have swan facts (&bevvies) so??? Mark your calendars for Arrow’s @wolvesinthethronewomb farewell exhibition, Swan Gone. Most of the swan paintings in the exhibitionβ€”save for a few late additionsβ€”were created during an intense three-week period leading up to the artist’s top surgery. What began as a compulsive obsession evolved into a deeper reflection of transition, mythology and grief.
