We always think we know our own scent preferences, but the journal never lies. 📖📊✨

I started logging on @fragranticaofficial back in 2022. Even when I don’t get my SOTD logged every single day, consistently using the tool over the last five years has revealed the real journey and the exact scent path I have walked.

Swiping through these years shows the shift in real time:
• 2022 (104 wearings / 28% active): Early designer/celebrity era (Aura Mugler, Nude, Viva La Juicy, Moschino)

• 2023–2024 (101–247 wearings): Deepening into niche storytelling (@lelabofragrances, @imaginaryauthors, @ffern.co, @theharmonist)

If you’ve been following @arshan_persia since 2024, you may be surprised to find out that Love & Bastani isn't the first fragrance from the house. You may also be surprised to discover that the first perfumer for Arshan Persia was me. Despite all the promo around Love & Bastani’s debut at @fragrance_fest in April 2024, the reality is Arshan Persia launched and sold its original perfumes years prior. At the time, my love for fragrance had reached a fever pitch and I dove into the deep end by researching every source I could to teach myself perfumery. Soon after, I started crafting my own fragrances. I was always inspired by Persian culture, it was the scent world I most deeply understood. After a lot of trial and error, tinkering, and artistry, Arshan Persia was born. The original fragrance would go out into the world and people loved it! So I did what anyone who loves to create and has zero interest in business would do, I began crafting more perfume. While crafting perfume, I also found myself becoming a voice of fragrance psychology through a psychology blog I had at the time. In 2015, amidst still crafting and releasing new fragrances, the editor of AskMen had personally reached out to me asking me to bring my perfume psychology review style to AskMen as their new fragrance reviewer. This would open doors to a world of perfume I didn’t know about, like gourmands. I immediately started thinking about Bastani. But in 2020, tragedy struck. A loss so massive, I still haven’t recovered. Though my love for fragrance didn’t wane, my original fragrances felt too personal. They belonged to a life I no longer lived and so I stopped making new fragrances. In 2023, I began thinking about the rebirth of Arshan Persia. By 2024, Love & Bastani would make history. About a year ago, I moved and in the unpacking process, reopened the Arshan Persia vault where my original fragrances resided. If you look really closely at this picture, you can spot a few original scents hidden in the background. They won’t be hidden for long. I’m excited to tell you work is being done to bring back the fragrances that formed the genesis of Arshan Persia.

Arshan Persia —Love & Bastani. I thought this one sounded so fun and different! With notes of Persian saffron, crushed pistachio, and ice cream esque gourmandy goodness, really makes you go “om nom nom”. While I haven’t tried it myself, I had a lot of fun going through the notes and seeing the Persian elements, and then doing some more research after looking through the site. @arshan_persia takes a lot of pride in their Atr, and you can really tell! I like concept of decolonizing the language surrounding scent that’s so easy to not even realize you have ingrained in your vocabulary.

(Also I wanted to draw the cat, duh)
