Dotwork portrait on the statue of Ariadne.

"Ariadne was the daughter of king Minos of Crete and queen Pasifaë. The story says that Ariadne gave Theseus a sword such he could kill the beast with and a ball of thread so he could fund his way back in the cave, which also was how he Theseus found his way back after he slated the beast Minotaurus. Ariadne decided to run away with Theseus on his ship but she was abandoned while sleeping on the island Naxos. She woke up devastated but the God Dionysos came and helped her and also made Ariadne his wife. Zeus made her immortal and Dionysos gave her a crown which Zeus put on the firmament"
