What if the very thing we think is “extra” is actually what keeps a child’s creativity alive? 🎨✨

@hetal_asher_babla from @artbeathub talks about one of the biggest ways parents can unintentionally limit a child’s creativity: taking them out of their art, music, dance, or other creative classes to make more time for academics.

When children are constantly encouraged to prioritise only their curriculum, homework, grades and exams, creativity can slowly become something they see as unnecessary or secondary. But art and creative activities aren’t simply “hobbies” they give children the freedom to explore, imagine, experiment, express themselves and think beyond the obvious.

So, should creative classes be treated as equally important as academics while raising a child? What do you think? 👇

Back in April, our SRDS Paint a Canvas Charity Art & Awareness Afternoon brought our community together for an afternoon of creativity, connection and giving. Today, I’m delighted to share the final fundraising total.

Together, we raised £700, which was donated equally to:

💙 @TargetOvarianCancer - £350
💙 @prostatecanceruk - £350

Thanks to match funding at work an additional £300 was donated to @TargetOvarianCancer, bringing the total impact of the event to £1,000.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, donated, bought raffle tickets, volunteered, and supported the event. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, helped make this possible.

Together with @artbeathub , we didn’t just paint canvases - we raised awareness, supported two incredible charities, and made a real difference. 🩵🎨

The social media ban has sparked a broader conversation among parents.

Today I was joined by Ravneet @neet_nutrition and Hetal @artbeathub to talk about parental controls, parent regulation, emotional safety and connection offline.

Because children don’t just need protecting online.

They need to feel safe coming to us, too.

Catch the Live and let me know your thoughts. Is the ban enough, or do we need to look deeper?

Summer sets my creativity mode ON.

I have painted walls before but never tried canvas/texture/colour mixing, blending on a canvas.

A lovely workshop by @artbeathub. With Hetal guiding us every step of the way, the experience was both relaxing and rewarding. What an amazing time we had!

Can't wait to hang my artwork !

I have some more planned ..

A huge thank you to Hetal from @artbeathub 💜

It’s been so special working together for a second time - and just as amazing as the first! From the very start, Hetal has been incredibly supportive, calm, and genuinely passionate about bringing this charity community event for @srdslondon to life.

She embraced every idea with such positivity and care, and guided everyone through the painting session so beautifully, creating a warm and welcoming space for all ✨

Hetal, thank you for your kindness, creativity, and for helping make this event so memorable and meaningful 💫 Once again through Art we raised Awareness of Ovarian and Prostate cancer together.

If you’re looking for a creative, uplifting and inclusive art experience, I can’t recommend @artbeathub enough 🎨

So grateful for the award in Arts and culture @sheawardsuk and the love received on the day for this song.

A reminder to keep believing in yourself, even quietly, even when you don’t see it coming.

Thank you @tandyvirdee for capturing the live moment at the awards.
