To live is to dream, to dream is to live 🧚🏻 I keep getting asked how I feel about the past week where not only I debuted in my first Gallery Show at @thegrandgalleryparis but also displayed my work on the runway for @theotherpfw . I always find it difficult to put these feelings into words because all my feelings have already been put into my work. This is months and months and months of thinking, planning, sewing, foraging, practicing, trying, crying and going back to the drawing board over and over again. To see it all unfold in under ten minutes is a feeling I don’t know the word for. I don’t know how to express my deep gratitude for the time and energy my models put into bringing my creations to life. I don’t know how I could possibly show the intensity of love I have for my husband and our family who helped me pick out fabric, run errands, pack, unpack, clean the house, and even walk on the show. How to thank my friends and family who travelled from all over and paid money to sit and watch something so incredibly personal become public. To tell the organizers of the event who are people I deeply admire that I think they are the good in this world. And to all the designers and models who bared their hearts and souls to our community this weekend. That’s a paragraph description of millions of thoughts and emotions going through me right now. I will post more as I process that this is over as my other projects are waiting for me, but until then know that something in me healed this week. And it’s because of all of you 💚

You might have a strong need for being useful to the society and you look for justification in the outside world. You may underestimate what you want from yourself and for yourself. Shyness may be accompanied by resentment of the fact that others ignore you. Do not seek approval from the outside, it will not help you get rid of your doubt and it is harmful to you. You have to trust your inner values.

**Women's Day Fundraiser**

When I started carving this piece, I noticed the positioning of the rocks reminded me of Indigenous cradleboards that I had seen over the years, so I took this as an opportunity to learn a little more about them ✍️

💫Fun Fact💫

"Inspired by the motion of a swinging cradleboard, Ojibwe woman Susan Olivia Poole invented what became known as the Jolly Jumper in 1910. Originally from the White Earth Indian Reservation in Minnesota, Poole was living in Canada raising her children when she came up with the idea. Poole began producing the Jolly Jumper in 1948 for her grandchildren, and patented the invention in 1957." - The Canadian Encyclopedia

"There are various words for 'cradleboard' in Indigenous languages, including dikinaaganan in Anishinaabemowin, tikinakan in Cree, ao’tópistaanistsi in Siksikáí’powahsin, and kalhu in Oneida.)

A cradleboard is a device traditionally used by Indigenous peoples to secure babies in place (typically for the first year or so) while their parents travelled, worked or were otherwise occupied. Infants were bound to a thin rectangular board and wrapped in blankets for comfort and warmth. The design of the board prevented injury to the child even if it were to fall over. In many types of cradleboards, a hoop or bow at the top served to protect the infant's head. Some designs also featured a foot rest so that the baby wouldn’t fall out through the bottom. The exact form varied from group to group throughout North America, and considerable energy was spent decorating the cradle board and its fittings."

Building on my last fundraiser, this carving will be up for auction to raise funds to support Toronto Indigenous Harm Reduction ❤ This fundraiser will be auction style instead of raffle style; DM if interested to bid!

The WINNING BID will be made via donation on the TIHR website. Once confirmation of the donation is sent to me I'll ship it out, to anywhere in Canada (no charge).

Bidding will be open until Friday March 11th at midnight. The winning bid will have 24 hours to confirm the donation or the 2nd highest bid will have a chance to win!

Thanks for any and all support 💝
