Hello Everybody!

It’s been a little while since I’ve posted, but I’m excited to share that I’ll be performing one of my textile Informances as part of the LACMA x Jeffrey Deitch Art Parade on Saturday, June 20, from 6:00–7:30 PM.

The performance coincides with the opening of the LACMA Davis Geffen Galleries, the Summer Solstice.

I hope you’ll come out—and even join in—if you’re feeling adventurous. Together we can warp the collective space-time continuum.

Hope to see you there!

Last week (through June 6th) to catch Nancy Evans, Love Me, Love Me Not at Official Welcome here in LA.

Often beginning with a single pour of watered down acrylic, Evans creates semi-abstract compositions that you can walk into.

I love this painting by Nancy Evans - She has applied the paint in a manner that recalls sgraffito, a ceramic decorating technique where the artist carves through a top layer of colored material to reveal a contrasting base layer beneath. Known as a painter, Evans training is in sculpture and she has continued to explore sculptural materials and projects throughout her career.

May means ROSES, apparently. It certainly worked out that way for the LESS ART RADIO ZINE. Apart from a brief interview with LA artist Nancy Evans, the entire episode is populated with soundworks pertaining to everybody's favorite genus of woody perennial flowering plants! And when we say everybody we mean Allen Ginsberg X William Blake, Le Forte Four, Matmos, Paulette Humanbeing, Aldous Huxley, The Great Society, Christian Marclay + Günter Müller, James Tenney, Gertrude Stein, Patti Smith + Korla Pandit X Jean Genet, Captain Beefheart, Django Reinhardt, Jimmie Rodgers, Bingo Gazingo, Louis Armstrong, John Barry, The Victoria Jazz Band, Harry Partch, Kate Bush, Clara Rockmore, Joseph Byrd, The Singing Flowerman, The Damned, Scott Walker, Elvis Presley, Joe South, The Shaggs and more!

Congratulations Nancy Evans on a stunning solo show, LOVE ME, LOVE ME NOT at Official Welcome Los Angeles. The artist’s visual language has always been a feast and this show is a full immersion into her practice. She pours, rolls, stains and layers with imaginative glee and the confidence that comes from a lifetime of experience. Congratulations Nancy! It was so great to run into active member of AHC Malado Francine taking in all the beauty. Gallery Hours
