My Photographs from last week’s tuesday class left something to be desired. I definitely need to check my phone after class. Luckily a couple of the artists sent me photographs of their drawings. Another reason to post is our 257th sale by 46 artists as of a couple days ago. This one (photo) 1. Is by @tuliaday . I’m not sure of the intended story because there is so much going on, with the pregnancy and the “monkey on her back,” on a pile of bones, but the connection of elements tells exactly the dark storyline that holds my attention so readily. this image was coveted by several patrons and @wasps_n_hornets snagged it this week. 2. One of our newest artists is @ergane_athena and her in class drawings have been incredible 3. Somehow @ergane_athena pumps out these mini masterpieces in multitudes, in class 4. @ergane_athena ‘s third portrait of our model from tuesday, all from one class somehow 5. @artbypayt also drawing incredibly fast. Ink is not usually a fast process but his practice as a printmaker and interest in tattoo design is why he and @ergane_athena are our newest hanging artists on upstairssmokingsection.com and at @thedivebarphiladelphia 6. @kilbride.art took a few weeks off and returned tuesday proving that properly harnessed technique does not fade quickly 7. The drawings from various artists from last monday 8. @aimieferreiratattoos always exceptional work from last tuesday. We’re done at 10 tonight (monday) and it’s my birthday at midnight. Come meet us at 10 and bring $30 and a sketchbook to register so you can draw with us tuesday at 7. We’re also done tuesday at 10 and several consecutive birthday parties will be attracting a crowd to the second floor. #comedraw #or #comegetdrunk #after #drawing @upstairssmokingsection @drunkdrawingsofthehumanfigure #mondays #tuesdays #signupatten

You must attend our model classes to hang your work at @thedivebarphiladelphia with upstairssmokingsection.com. I thought we’d made it clear but this post is to clear up confusion as we rarely if ever deviate from that rule. The reason is that it is not just the director that is supporting you. The other artists in the group, the bartenders and surely i (as director) must be able to discuss your identity beyond having met you once or twice. The photos are bad from Tuesday so when everyone sends theirs, i will make another post from this week. Our mission as a “class,” is to provide weekly crowd sourced reference for artists. The crowd is composed of students, artists there for practice and professionals that need reference for long term paintings, but the point is getting to know the artists with whom we work. Membership registration is $30, to schedule an appointment message me wherever you’re reading this, public registration and interviews occur at 9:30 thursday nights on the second floor of @thedivebarphiladelphia . Photograph #1. @artbypayt ‘s creepy skull and mushrooms design, now hanging downstairs at @thedivebarphiladelphia #2. In class sketches from monday, by various artists, 17 artists attended this week, much more photos to come in our next post. #3. A timelapse from tuesday (on instagram) #4. @ergane_athena drew an in class charcoal a few weeks ago and brought it in framed this week. The classes are important because we get to meet new artists ensuring their return to Dive, bringing in new people we get to know that can then supply us with art made on the spot or made in private practice. So the classes are less the point than representing people we all know and embrace. After the $30 initial meeting, classes are just $14 and under depending on how frequently you attend. UpstairsSmokingSection.Com is not a room, it is a collective that named a room and sells it’s work together and draws together at 6 bars so far with The Dive as our anchor for more than 6 years. 256 images sold by 46 artists. #collective #artatbars #illustration #fineart

This week was our first week of two days in a row. We’re now mondays and tuesdays from 7-10/10:30 pending attendance. We are still, at 181 members, rsvp mandatory. This means you must schedule a meeting with me (Page Hamrick IV, Director of UpstairsSmokingSection.com) before attending, and then you must rsvp for the days you want. I’ll be at @thedivebarphiladelphia on the second floor, tonight (thursday) after 9pm interviewing potential models and artists. Bring a sketchbook, samples of your work and $30 to become a member. 1. My (Page Hamrick IV/ @drunkdrawingsofthehumanform ) painting started monday, of our newest staff model @ayanna.lemon . 2. @grainydays400 @jesswolfglass and @paytown ‘s drawings from tuesday’s class 3. @philip_de_goya ‘s drawings from monday and tuesday 4. @weareonepeople1 @classicgoub and @88ginandjuice from monday 5.
