For a group of 20-year-olds, the bandmates of People I’ve Met think a lot about timing. Vocalist and guitarist Moses Martin, bassist Andrew Suster and drummer Orlando Wiltshire spent nearly five years recording music and playing at New York clubs before putting out any records. “I’m an occasionally over-obsessive perfectionist,” says Martin, the son of actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. “I wanted to make sure that we waited to release music until it felt really right.” This year, the band released its debut EP, Bunny, a dreamy collection of swirling synths and raucous percussion.

“It is kind of romantic,” says Wiltshire, looking at the band’s trajectory through the lens of a relationship. They had the classic honeymoon phase, getting together while attending the same high school, before things became serious. “It instantly became all I thought about and all I cared about,” says Martin. “From then on, it was just self-evident that we were going to do this for as long as we could.”
