Ihr habt's wahrscheinlich schon mitbekommen: Nach dem überwältigenden Feedback auf Hendrik Beikirchs REGENMANTEL-MANN werden wir 2025 tatsächlich noch ein zweites MURAL in der Innenstadt von Aschaffenburg auf die Beine stellen!

Und zwar nicht irgendwann, sondern jetzt demnächst, vom 04. bis zum 10. Oktober. Und nicht mit irgendwem, sondern mit CASE MACLAIM, einem der wichtigsten und bekanntesten MURAL-Artist Deutschlands. 🥳💯

Besonders spannend aber: Kurz vorm Abschluss des Murals am Freitag, schaut CASE nochmal persönlich bei uns im MONOCHROM vorbei. Und gibt euch in einem exklusiven ARIST TALK 🎨Einblicke in seine Kunst, seine Inspiration und die Entstehung des neuen Werks direkt vor unserer Haustür.

I #painted this #mural on a #gymnasium in the North of #france , however the #reference #photo was taken years prior in the Dominican Republic while with the #homies @artesanoproject
When I was a teenager I used to to have two #passions really, one obviously was #painting and the other was playing #basketball . Funny really, because I‘m the most comfortable painting by myself, but really enjoyed #playing in a #team. I guess I settled for the one, where I don’t need necessarily a full #gang . Just the lady and me #assistandscore

An amalgamation of two works I’m currently working on, a serigraph titled “Antillana”, and some losas criollas (more on those pieces later, stay tuned). Here multiple distressed layers of tiles reveal the figure of la Antillana with her machete, riding un burro cargando plátanos in baskets. I then rearranged the tiles like a puzzle, animating them to move around until the puzzle is solved.

Kicking 2022 off Tiger Style. Shout out to all those born on the year of the Tiger, much prosperity to you all.

Illustration info: So I’ve been working on a lot of print work lately for a series which are heavily influenced by Japanese 18th century hinga and manga prints, as well as Chinese ink wash paintings (Tang dynasty to present) with a modern touch. Look out for that later this year. Traditionally most of these print styles have little color, mostly a black ink with the occasional earth tones or reds. But lately I’ve been finding a lot of inspiration from Yuan and Qing dynasty porcelain. So I decided to ink this illustration mixing both wash ink and porcelain brush/color palette. Made the seal to read 2022.

"2021 Wrap up"

With every year that passes there are good times and bad. I try to focus on the good and learn from the bad... here's some of the good.

Started off with @elizabethbergeland painting a portrait of me, doing a couple of podcasts with @citykittystreet & @forresthinesart, collaborating with the legend @chrisrwk, curated a show at @ucartsleague "We Belong" with some of my favorite Philly artists @marisa.vr @caloblacksand and @lazybeamarte, having my biggest show to date with the support of the beautiful souls at @paradigmgs, Cristina @barbacoachef making me cry happy tears, all the journalists who took the time to talk about "Immigrant Mentality", all the people who showed love and supported this brown boy in every way, all the great times with friends/family and the icing on the cake being on the cover of @streetsdept 1st magazine ft @acrawfordart & @_mcbailey. Huge thanks to @conradbenner for showing love the last 10 years and @ericinphilly for chatting at my studio/house.

Truly blessed, grateful & honored for everything. Can't wait for 2022 and thank you all!

"Peluca"

Growing up my barber was from the Dominican Republic. Going to the barbershop was like visting family, with plenty of Spanish slang being thrown around. In 2016 I was invited out to the Dominican Republic for @artesanoproject where I was humbled by the hospitality of people who had nothing to spare. In San Pedro de Macoris I stopped in a barbershop which was just one guy working in a tiny box of a shop. Being in there, bullshitting with them was like I was back home. Home is immigrant mentality. Home is being with those raised with the same mindset as you.
