The Look In - The Return of Calypso

We first visited Gabe from the Art Group in September 2025 when we went behind the scaffolding at Calypso in Dickson.
Hundreds of people now call the development home – and we thought it was a good time to have another Look In to chronicle its transformation.

Gabe speaks to what he is most proud of when delivering a project of this scale, and to how building communities and contributing to the Northbourne corridor, both aesthetically and functionally, are of primary importance.

Stopping to contemplate the amount of work that goes into a finished building is always a fun exercise, so let’s revisit Gabe as we walk around Calypso.

Winton Scholarship Round 1 – Done & Dusted 🏁

An epic finish for the team with both cars inside the Top 10 to wrap up the round.

Tommy Roso delivered an outstanding drive after an early mechanical DNF set him back, charging through the field and passing 25 cars across the day — an incredible effort to watch.

Harry Bresnehan stayed consistent all day, chipping away each race, completing every session and bringing the car home inside the Top 10.

Super proud of both drivers. Plenty of learning, plenty of progression, and a lot of great racing.

A huge thank you to the crew for keeping everything running smoothly throughout a busy day, and to the families, supporters and sponsors who continue to back the team.

Creative Fellowship Wrap 💫

Over the course of several weeks, our #ArtGroupCreativeFellow Silvia Levenson (IT) became an integral part of our community. She worked across almost every workshop, including the Hotshop with Annette Blair , where she scaled up the size of her work.

"Being in Canberra Glassworks is an incredible experience. Here you breathe a sense of community, human warmth and a lot of professionalism. I love to see so many young women blowing glass here, maybe because in Italy 90% of glass blowers are male.

Now set up across the Mould Room, Engine Room and, as of tomorrow, the Hotshop, our 2025 Creative Fellow is plaster deep in several projects that will keep her busy until she takes off at the end of July.

International Artist Incoming! ✈️

We’re thrilled to welcome internationally acclaimed glass artist #SilviaLevenson back to Canberra Glassworks this June as our 2025 #ArtGroupCreativeFellow

Originally from Argentina and now based in Italy, Silvia Levenson is an established glass artist specialising in cast glass. She is internationally renowned for her powerful installations that explore the hidden tensions within human relationships. Silvia last visited the Glassworks in 2020, delivering her intensive masterclass 'Thinking in Glass', where she guided artists to experiment with technique and meaning in bold new ways
