Brilliant to see the effect of the final artwork put together by Claire @arthoppers last Thursday at the opening of #tag gallery at Gayhurst primary school. It was the third instalment of ‘it’s me!’ Names Project where every child in the school created a part but of their names over the year. In this series this term we worked with Reception, Year 1& 2. Using compasses Claire invented a fun and way to puncture out the letters, which required a lot of focus and precision from the children. It’s been a fun project to work on, and love the effect of shadows of the names on all the walls. The words reverse and can be read the right way round in their shadows. #artwork #childrensart #arthoppers #workshop schoolsproject

Precious early Spring Buzzline moments from Thursdays session🌟

Violets in full bloom! The honeysuckle that Deborah grew from cutting flourishing. The burrow in the mound created by some crafty creature. The dandelion standing triumphant as it pushes through the concrete cracks next to the @arthoppers mural at the Children’s Center. Our woodland bulbs blooming, wood anemone and snow drops ✨🪻🌱

And that’s a wrap for 2025. Today we finished a year of habitat creation by sowing the last of the wildflower meadows on Daubeney Fields. We also added honeysuckle and dog rose planters outside the Clapton Park Children’s Centre to create a mural that feeds pollinators. A place where nature meets art.

Our heartfelt thanks to the hundreds of volunteers who have helped build the Hackney Buzzline this year. Have a great festive break everyone and see you in the New Year.

The impression of a meadow in a child’s eye - a new mural at the Clapton Park Children’s Centre - is now done.

Our heartfelt thanks to super-talented Claire from @arthoppers, Adam who successfully crowdfunded to make it possible, Children’s Centre staff for their support, members of the community who prepared the fence, and Hackney Buzzline volunteers who planted the bed in front of the mural. By working together we have created a new nature gateway to Hackney Marshes on the River Lea.

Our Buzzliners are rejuvenating the space outside the Children’s Centre on the Clapton Park Estate. 🌱 Volunteers are planting for pollinators beneath the silver birch trees by the bridge to Hackney Marshes.

Meanwhile, Claire - the Art Hopper - is imagining a child’s-eye view of a meadow on the nursery fence. 🎨

Together, our interwoven garden and art will reflect the meadow we’ll soon sow at the entrance to Daubeney Fields opposite - creating a gateway of nature between park and marshes for walkers and cyclists.

Our new Hackney Buzzline project to create a pollinator space outside the Clapton Park Children’s Centre is now go. Today, Hiscox Insurance volunteers removed a rotten kick-rail and ‘weed’ membrane. Buzzline volunteers will soon put in bee friendly shrubs and add a dead-hedge border while @arthoppers will paint a meadow pollinator mural.

We’re working with @hackneycouncil to remodel the Daubeney Fields entrance opposite with boulders, chalk meadow and soak-away garden. Creating an inviting, nature-friendly gateway between Homerton and Hackney Marshes.

Following successful crowdfunding, we’re working on a mural at the Clapton Park Children’s Centre to celebrate meadow biodiversity on neighbouring parks. Children and parents are helping by picking local pollinators they’d like to see.

The meadow mural will be painted by art-hoppers - creating a new nature gateway to Hackney Marshes. We can’t wait to see it! 🌼 🐝
