Day 5 On the road (still) between Košice, SK and Balatonhenye, HU The morning started with goodbyes, @bernadetta.budzik and @rachelrouzaud left the touring group and we welcomed Gergo @lina.community fellow from @pad_network as well as Adele and Kata from @spolka.cc We encountered the Danube in Budapest and then we headed towards lake Balaton. We explored the shores under the guidance of Gergo who showed us the different landscapes that surround it. We learned a lot about situated practices, especially the role of artistic research and interventions in shaping cultural landscapes and facilitating ecological actions. We did not miss out on a dip in the fresh waters of Balaton, bomekes dives included! We continued the conversations along the shores until the moon showed up. We learnt more about the ecology of the lake, and we fell in love with water chestnuts. We discussed more about how to involve community and policy makers in ecological actions through reviving traditions, like animal baths in the lake, how to mobilise attention through curatorial projects and multidisciplinary collaborations, like developing menus with algae and hyper local products or organising artistic walks. We slept in a lovely countryside house. Organised by : @livingsummerschool @bolwerk.be @floatinguniversity @hello_constructlab @spolka.cc @fablabtorino Special thanks to @pad_network for the knowledge and sweet times! Day 4: Workshop 2: Košice, SK A short drive before arriving in Košice, where the workshop and a welcome buffet await us. The day begins with this moment of warmth and informal discussion, during which everyone writes their first and last names on a coloured sticker. Participants are then invited to split into several groups to take part in a workshop exploring how to quantify the impact of a cultural institution on its audience or the local community. Group discussions, diagrams, colours and Post-it notes… Zuzana from @Spolka and Barbora Andor Tothova from @kinousmev lead the workshop and propose a final exercise and new ways of measuring this impact. We are then invited to continue our conversations around a table where a meal is served. In the afternoon, the group splits into two workshops: some roll up their sleeves and set about adapting the traditional pierogi recipe to make a vegan and gluten-free version, whilst continuing their discussions. They cook in the community garden at @podnadvor in preparation for the evening meal. The rest of the group hop on bikes lent by @cyklokuchyna_ke and set off to explore the town and discover new organisations and institutions offering cultural activities. In particular, we visit @kinousmev and meet …., who tells us about his campaign within the university to prevent a project that would result in the loss of a natural space on campus. The group then meets up at the garden, where we enjoy the delicious pierogis cooked that afternoon. Thank you to everyone who came along and took part in the event in one way or another, and thank you to Spolka and Kosice for being so welcoming to us. Day 3 : On the road (again) between Prague, CZ and Vazec, SK It was a long day on the road today: we set off early in the morning from Prague, stopped off near the lake Kozi horka where we did more or less recreated a famous painting… We compared two hummus dishes and we’d 100 per cent recommend this place. A short break at thermal springs of Kad’a, where the bravest among us ventured in, whilst those who felt the cold simply drank the water, which was actually quite nice! We could enjoy the view of the Tatra Mountains all the way to Vazec, the village where the painter Jan Hala had made his home. We were lucky enough to receive a very warm welcome from Zuzana, the curator, to be shown round his house, to chat about the workshops she organises there and to share a curry with her. Day 2: On the road between Berlin, DE and Prague, CZ On our way from Berlin to Prague, we stopped at Veřejný sál Hraničář in Ústí Nad Labem, where we had the chance to talk with curator Martina Johnová about the cultural center and the city’s housing situation. Later that day, we arrived in Prague and were hosted in the beautiful Kafkárna garden. With Marko at the oven, we stepped into the shoes of pizza chefs for an evening, preparing, sharing, and enjoying delicious pizzas while exchanging thoughts and conversations with everyone. Let’s meet in @lafermedelamhotte’s future textile recycling center. ✨ This center is at the heart of their cultural association and plays an essential role in raising awareness about waste reduction, recycling, and the repurposing of objects and textiles. Donations from local residents are sorted, selected, repaired, or transformed based on their condition and material potential. It’s mission is closely linked to the local life of the rural area where we are located. Currently, it is housed in a barn that is unheated, damp, and poorly lit. To better develop the project, the recycling center will move to a new space on the farm that requires space renovation. The association has chosen to organize a participatory workshop involving volunteers and local residents. This approach not only addresses economic constraints but also enhances local engagement and collective ownership of the space. It is within this framework that we have created this 10-day residency from April 9 to April 18, 2026. The Champ des Possibles association is a cultural association in a rural setting that focuses on several areas ranging from cultural programming (live performances, concerts) to artist residencies, training through hosting student seminars that confront them with rurality and artisanal skills, and ecological practices with a community workshop for ecological printing using risography, along with a textile recycling center. The association is located on the Mhotte farm in the Bourbonnais bocage at Saint-Menoux. A big thanks to @evan_morisse for graphic design, and the full team of @dsaad_esdmaa students accompanied by the artists Bureau d’Etude.
