Join us on Sunday the 8th of March to celebrate International Women’s Day 💐

CHROMA by HER

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Lumiere Contemporary Art Gallery presents CHROMA by Her, a group exhibition bringing together ten women artists from the United States, Sweden, Lebanon, Russia, and England, all of whom live and work in Cyprus.

This exhibition is dedicated exclusively to women artists whose creative practices are rooted in Cyprus, despite their diverse cultural origins. United by place yet shaped by different histories, the artists reflect a shared commitment to the island as a site of creation, exchange, and belonging.

The title Chroma, derived from the Greek word for color, functions as both a visual and conceptual framework. Color becomes a metaphor for plurality, identity, and emotional resonance—expressing individuality while revealing points of convergence. Through painting and contemporary artistic practices, the exhibition unfolds a rich spectrum of perspectives shaped by femininity, migration, memory, and place.

CHROMA by Her is conceived as an act of recognition and inclusion. It highlights the contribution of foreign women artists to Cyprus’s contemporary art scene, presenting them not as external voices, but as an integral part of the local cultural landscape. The exhibition celebrates diversity through artistic dialogue and affirms belonging through sustained creative presence.

Participating Artists:
Alia Corm · Anna Kozyreva · Carolina Alotus · Francesca Pinoni · Julie Menelaou · Katie Sabry · Kelly Norman · Liubov M · Ludmila Budanov · Sheila Raven

“Everything in nature is harmony: a little too much, or else too little, disturbs the scale and makes a false note”. - Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres

The eyes of the grande Odalisque, reminiscent of the one painted by Ingres in 1814, scrutinize us as we enter The Warehouse by IT Quarter, hosting the second edition of the Environmental Art Exhibition RE:SOURCE 2.0:NATURE, organized by City Friends Club in collaboration with ARTNOW.

The exhibition invites us to reflect on the relationship between modern humans and nature, the need to respect the environment that hosts us, and to build a future where, as Ingres said, harmony is fundamental. With RE:SOURCE 2.0, Art becomes a tool to prompt us to reflect on an issue that concerns each of us and calls for responsible actions.

More than 30 Cypriot and international artists have conveyed their creative journey and personal vision on this theme through painting, sculpture, ceramics, the use of natural materials, trash and found objects, textiles, and many other sources.

Next to each exhibited artwork, you can read about the artistic research and access the hidden meanings behind it. It will be a true experience open to both adults and children, enriched by an educational program featuring lectures and activities for kids.

After all, aren’t kids the protagonists of this exhibition that aims to invite and encourage thinking about the future of our children and the new generations?

Thank you to the Art critic Polina Dobrogaeva and Art historian Anastasia Shamshurova for this opportunity and for raising awareness about such a current and important issue. Congratulations to all the artists for building an “imaginary bridge” between art and nature, between human and the environment, and for sharing it with each of us.
