Picos de Europa - heaven for alpine rock climbing on its dramatic limestone cliffs, ridges and peaks, the most prominent and famous being Pico de Urriellu (aka Naranjo de Bulnes). We climbed the East face (10 pitches, 5.10). The trip was demanding but oh so diverse and fulfilling. Having our friends and local crushers come along made it extra fun (thanks Noe @noeliaoc7 and Cris @cristinillapaz). And a big thanks to my friend Elias @elias.the.spaniard @cirqueguides for sharing his childhood turf with us and inviting us to his home. Noe and Art, you redefined the meaning of tough. Hasta la próxima ♥️

Well he did it. In his third-ever meet @artmuir set two @usapl_il records at 80 years young in the 75 kg weight class. @usalimitless put on a great @usapowerlifting regionals.

Overall he was 8/9:

💡Squat: 90 kg/198 lbs
💡Bench: 57.5 kg/127 lbs
💡Deadlift: 135 kg/297 lbs

The final attempt - 308 lbs - went up easy. We’ll get it next time with a little more grip work.

Art always says that it’s not about the summit, it’s the effort. And boy was that true here. He worked hard and trusted the process, but even more important is that we had a lot of fun. During training sessions we were just as likely to be talking current events as powerlifting.

The meet was an absolute blast, including hanging out with our new friend Duncan, the only lifter older than Art there. He’s a regular competitor at age 84 just because it’s a good time.

We arrived in Papua, Indonesia on October 19th and helicoptered up to Carstensz Pyramid base camp (14,000 ft / 4270m) the following day; very lucky since some teams waited 2 weeks to fly in!!

Once in base camp we made good use of our time, climbing each night, 3 summits in 3 days with all of our climbers making the top!

Congratulations to @artmuir the oldest person to climb Carstensz pyramid and complete the 7 summits! Also big congratulations to @kristin.harila , @zeromultiplier , @thistlehillwisco , @kevin.mark.walsh and @downstowndenver , what a great team!!

We waited a few days in base camp after the climbs to helicopter down , a proper goodbye to the mountain. Very thankful it all worked out in the end 🙏

At 79 years old, American climber Art Muir has made history by becoming the oldest person ever to complete the Seven Summits — the highest peaks on each of the seven continents.

On 21 October 2025, Art stood atop Carstensz Pyramid (4,884 m) in Oceania, marking the final summit in his legendary mountaineering journey.

At 79 years old, my friend Art just became the oldest person ever to complete the Seven Summits! 🏔️✨

Yesterday morning at 7 am, we stood together on top of Carstensz Pyramid — the highest mountain in Oceania and one of the Seven Summits🏔️

It was such a fun climb up to 4884 m, and I was lucky to share the summit with my two favourites, @artmuir and @garrettmadison1 😍

Art is incredibly strong, calm, and inspiring — and most of all, he’s a wonderful friend and one of the kindest people I know❤️
