POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Jing (The Luster of A Gemstone) 2024-2026 unfinished

An overview of my largest work in a long time as I begin the process of painting. This piece will attempt to capture the feelings and inspiration I received while on my journey to my girlfriend’s homeland. Rather than try to make an American interpretation of art and imagery I have no background, instead I took notes about how everything made me feel. Then I used these notes to capture that experience from my eyes and understanding of the world around me.

I will be posting weekly updates as I paint this and hope to have it finished by the end of this year, hopefully sooner for the upcoming @pancakesandbooze event here in November.

Welcome, new followers!

Originally, this Sunday’s BYOBook Club was going to be at the park, but with a huge rainstorm headed our way, we’re moving indoors!

A huge thank you to the New Bedford Art Museum for being so welcoming and giving us a warm, dry place to read. We won’t be in the main gallery, but we’ll still be dry and cozy!

Honored to have my piece 𝘚𝘩𝘦’𝘴 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘔𝘦 included in agriCultural: A Biennial Exhibition, presented by the Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership (SEMAP) @semaponline in partnership with the New Bedford Art Museum @artmuseumnb and juried by curator Suzanne de Vegh and SEMAP’s Bradley Fesmire.

From the exhibition: “The exhibition investigates the complex and undertold stories of agriculture, farming and contemporary stories held in the land and the sea. The work highlights the intersectionality in the art of farming, the act of creating and the important cultural need agriculture holds in our communities and our culture.”

I am especially grateful to have work included in a show that brings together artists who are farmers, farmers who are artists, and work drawn from agriculture and the land itself. It’s very much the world this piece comes from.

𝘚𝘩𝘦’𝘴 𝘞𝘢𝘭𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘞𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘔𝘦 is made with farmhouse brick, cochineal and walnut pigments sourced on-farm and in Oaxaca, then processed by hand into paints and inks.

On view at the New Bedford Art Museum through November 29, 2026. Go see it in person, or DM me to inquire about the piece.

Some shots of what I made last night @frnb.artistcollaborative group still life, hosted by @artmuseumnb

This took about an hour and a half. Just playing with a new brush I made in procreate.

Took a pic at the end but will I ever really finish this?

Maybe.

Throughout the summer, “With Whipped Cream Frosting” was part of “Synergies: Hybrid Art”, alongside a group of remarkable art pieces. The exhibition highlighted work that merges artistic disciplines, material, and technologies to create innovative forms of expression. Very grateful to the jurors @amylemairestudio and @nicolas_touron as well as @artmuseumnb for this opportunity!

🐂🐂 On view at the New Bedford Art Museum through Nov. 29 as part of “agriCultural: a Biennial Exhibition”. I found this photograph in an album of a forestry exhibition from upstate NY in 1985. Lots of flannel and dad jeans in those pics.
