-- ON SALE NOW! Tickets to the WORLD PREMIERE of "ART NOT AS USUAL" a feature length documentary at DENVER FILM FESTIVAL OCTOBER 24, 2026 10:30 AM MDT at MCA HOLIDAY THEATER DENVER 2644 W 32nd Ave, Denver, Colorado GET TICKETS: denverfilmfestival.eventive.org EARLY in September, the Artnauts gathered at Swoon Art House to see a private, preliminary screening of "Art Not As Usual" the story of the Artnauts collective. Shooting began in 2022, so it was a huge milestone and special celebration as we ended production. A moving history of the collective, the film documents it's origins, mission, and impact. Filmmaker, Annie Eastman, was on hand along with Artnauts' founding members Dr George Rivera and Beth Krensky, and producers, Martha Russo and Pamela Beverly-Quigley. All 5 will be at the Denver Film Festival for a post screening Q&A. Eastman began her career as a documentary filmmaker working as a Portuguese Translator/Associate Producer on “They Killed Sister Dorothy”, a courtroom-drama set in the Brazilian Amazon over 3 years (HBO Films, Emmy Nominee for Best News & Journalism Documentary 2009). Her directorial debut, “Bay of All Saints” follows a group of spunky single mothers and their refrigerator repairman as they're displaced from their homes in the “water slums” of Brazil. It premiered in competition at SXSW Film Festival and won the Audience Award for Best Feature Doc 2012. She directed and edited an episode of “the Election Effect” (Shine Global / Paramount Plus), a set of stories about how teenagers are affected by our polarized political climate. She has directed and edited over 80 impact stories for non-profit organizations on individuals overcoming generational poverty through education, living with chronic and life-threatening illness, or managing mental illness and addiction. She has two mid-sized kids and a regular-sized husband and lives in Denver, CO. #DFF49 #DenverFilmFestival #AnnieEastman #Artnauts #ArtNotAsUsual #Artnauts30Years #ArtforSocialChange #SociallyConsciousArt #ArtforPeace #Artmatters #Film #Filmmaker #Documentary @DenverFilmFestival @theDenverFilm @Holidaytheater @mca_denver @AnnieWestWoman

— ARTNAUTS 30TH ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION PART 1: RHIZOME: ORIGINS To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Artnauts, the CU Art Museum, University of Colorado Boulder (CUAM), and the Arvada Center (AC) are co-organizing a two-part anniversary exhibition. The theme of the exhibitions is centered on the concept of a RHIZOME. Curated by Trine Bumiller, Martha Russo, Tina Suszynski, and CU Art Museum Director, Hope Saska, Part 1: "Rhizome: Origins" is taking place this Fall at the CU Art Museum in Boulder, Colorado. "Rhizome: Origins" features the foundational history of the Artnauts and explores the origins of the group at CU Boulder. The exhibition will run concurrently with the "Artnauts: From the Archive" exhibition looking back on the groups 30 year history. "Artnauts: From the Archives" spans 18 years of works from our members, offering a look into our mission of using art as a tool for social change. Characterized by spontaneous growth over an ever-expanding network of cells, the rhizome is an organism that generates multiple points of connection and departure. Undergoing constant evolution in the process of self-creation, the rhizome is also an analogy for Artnauts Collective, which “uses the visual arts as a tool for addressing global issues while connecting with artists from around the world.” JOIN US! Sept 3rd, 4-6PM for the Opening Anniversary Celebration toasting CUAM's @cuartmuseum and the VAC's Sweet 16, CU @cuboulder and Colorado's 150th, and the 30th anniversary of the Artnauts artist collective!
