✨ Art After Dark | Youth of Bastrop Art Show ✨

📅 Friday, August 1
🕕 6:00–8:00 PM
📍 Lost Pines Art Center

Join us for a very special Art After Dark as we celebrate the first-ever Youth of Bastrop Art Show!

This summer, our young artists (ages 7–17) explored painting, sculpture, mixed media, collaboration, and creativity through three unique art camps. Now it’s time to celebrate their incredible work!

🎨 Experience a gallery showcasing artwork created throughout the summer.

🖌️ Be there for the unveiling of our collaborative “ART” mural, created one letter at a time by campers from all three sessions. This special community piece will be permanently installed at the Lost Pines Art Center for everyone to enjoy throughout the year.

Enjoy an evening of live music, light refreshments, inspiring artwork, and the chance to encourage the next generation of artists right here in Bastrop.

Watching these young creators discover their confidence, embrace their individuality, and bring their ideas to life has been nothing short of inspiring. We are incredibly grateful to our families, volunteers, donors, and our amazing community for believing in the power of the arts and helping our youth programs continue to grow.

❤️ Come celebrate these talented young artists, support their creativity, and help us make this first Youth of Bastrop Art Show a night they’ll never forget.

We can’t wait to share what they’ve created with you!

RIP Clyde
.
While deep in a random AI "chat" with a specific "agent" I got off topic. This convo led me to supposedly learning that the very last two monkeys ever sent to space for scientific purposes were named Bonny & Clyde and it was on the Challenger space mission (STS-61-L) launch in 1986, which i remember in perfect clarity when i watched the shuttle explode live on tv in a small rural elementary classroom as a kid.
.
I really milled on that "fact" for a while and even did a sketch of "Clyde". The last 2 monkeys ever in space - what a crazy thought - especially considering the whole Challenger memory from childhood. It was a neurological connection I had never fed this "agent" before, but I literally empathized with.
.
After the sketch I realized i never confirmed exactly what type of monkey it was - I had sketched a chimpanzee but traditionally the monkeys sent into space are Rhesus Macaques so I wanted to confirm.
.
Turns out in the follow up questions, there were no monkeys present at all on the Challenger mission. It was a complete AI "agent" "hallucination". A "simple" anomaly of learning language models increasing exponentially in complexity.
.
Even though I use it daily as a webdev - obviously do not trust AI and never rely on its "intelligence" - use your own critical thinking above all things. We are living in crazy times and I think we all can at least agree on that.
.
Thank you for attending this public service announcement, comment ⭐ to receive a free high quality print of Clyde 🤷
