Honrando a Pedro Pulido: Herencia cultural de arte, comunidad y resistencia 🗓️Saturday oct 24th 🕗8pm -11pm 📣Shoutout to THE SHAKE AWAKE ENSAMBLE!! The Shake Awake Ensemble is where raw poetry meets the pulse of house and electronic music. At the core of the ensemble is an unspoken dialect shared between poet, composer and musician. The Ensemble communicates through a shared live vocabulary, a constant, reactive conversation where spoken inflection can pivot a synthesized bassline, and a sudden harmonic shift can redirect the narrative arc of the spoken word. It is a live dialogue of cue and response. The heart of the project belongs to Ivan Ramos, whose evocative, incisive poetry provides the thematic soul. Otto Ansurez Dadda, who designs and composes the shifting electronic architecture in real time. Antonio (Tonio) Rangel who provides the rhythm, texture, and dynamic to each musical landscape through percussion. Together, they create a space where dance music becomes storytelling, and poetry finds a pulse. Let’s support a life changing project Cintio Vitier, a life line to empower an entire neighborhood through art and education Thanks to @artsie_edu @ivan.ramos.520 @ottoanzuresdadda @artistapiloto @ontiveros3890 @ramonmarino26 #community #poetry #music #evanstoneats #support

Across Cook County, Creative Placemaking projects supported by @cookcountyarts — with technical support from LISC — are taking shape, bringing together artists, residents, and local partners to reimagine public spaces grounded in each community. 🎨 From murals and community gardens to arts centers and learning spaces, these projects reflect the ideas, stories, and priorities of the communities shaping them. We’re excited to support and see work from @artsie_edu, @berwyndevcorp, @cornerstone_cdc, @homewoodsciencecenter, @justrootschicago, @open_studio_project, @restorationministriesinc, @riverdaledistrict, @sga_youth, @buildsouthland, @village_of_brookfield, @glenviewvillage, and @villageofmaywood continue to move forward across Cook County. Each project is shaped through ongoing collaboration, with community input guiding both the process and what ultimately gets built. The design of these spaces will reflect the people who use them every day. Work continues to progress across Cook County, with projects set to be unveiled throughout the summer. Visit the link in our bio to learn more about the initiative and these projects. #LISC #CookCountyArts #CreativePlacemaking

📣Celebrating Women Artists 🤩 Special Guest: Esperanza Gama @esperanza.gama 🗓️March 20th 🕣8:30 PM – 10:30 PM Location: Zentli, Evanston @zentli_evanston @artsie_edu 🌻This event honors women in the arts, featuring a selection of talented artists and poetesses including Alma Delia Becerra Torres, Agnieszka Podczaszy, Esperanza Gama, Gabriela Juárez-Domínguez, Jackie Melissas, Katherine Del Real, Patricia Acosta, Sholo Beverly, Beth Jacob’s, Dr. Erica Nsoedo, and Silvia Goldman ❤️✊🏻✊🏿✊✊🏽❤️ Artist Statement: At this point in my career, my mastery of the techniques that I have worked with allows me to give a clear and precise message to my audience. Currently, I am working in a ceramic workshop as well as continuing to work in my home studio on bark paper, painting with natural pigments, and also working on drawings of different dimensions. My work is part of the permanent collections at various museums, including the Snite Museum at Notre Dame University. I was awarded the Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz prize for visual artists in 2003 at the National Museum of Mexican Art. My work touches social issues relevant to many communities in this city. And even though my work has traveled far, I want to reach out to my city, where I have lived and worked for 20 years. Relationship to Chicago: A visual artist’s language merges with the everyday life where one lives and Chicago is where I live. Everything about this city interests me, from its wide range of cultural events that can be enjoyed here to when people gather to march in support of various social causes. The latter is reflected in my work, for example, “Las monarcas,” a series about immigration, and this is a city of immigrants. Just like other cultures have enriched my visual language, I know the work of my last 20 years in this city is part of the artistic community of Chicago.
