Today we met the artists! 🎨

Our Chamber Boost Fund mural project took a big step forward today as we met the final artists, selected through an extensive EOI process and curated by Art Public.

Congratulations to @heidiledwellart @bendedkneeface @belindasmith_art @shiarnadesign @mealieart @laurenreneegray 🌟

Byron Coathup from @artwork.public, who is project managing the works, joined us for a walk up Proudfoots Lane to revisit the murals Business Murwillumbah delivered last year under the CID Pilot Project for @transportfornsw. It was a great chance to see how far the laneway has come and imagine what’s next.

This project responds directly to community feedback about graffiti and public safety. The artists will transform graffitied roller shutters along the lane, and new tree lighting will make it brighter and more welcoming after dark.

The chamber’s time on this project is entirely volunteered, so the full grant goes to the artists, project management, materials and lighting.

Thank you to @tweedshirecouncil for supporting this project through a $15,000 Chamber Boost grant, and to Byron and the Art Public team for bringing together such a talented group of artists.

Stay tuned! ✨

My resilience lives in what I continue to make. The last few months of 2025 asked everything of me. My heart and body was tired but I trusted what I’ve built, even when I felt worn down. Through burn out, chronic pain, working in extreme summer conditions, I kept creating and put trust in my hands and skills..it is the power of the mind over body that made this possible. This mural carried me through more than I can explain ❤️‍🩹💪🎨

Watch the making of my mural for @skyridgeliving on the Gold Coast. Thank you to @artwork.public for the opportunity

My last mural of the year is all wrapped up and I couldn’t be happier with the mark I’ve made on an area of my home town, the Gold Coast. Summer really hit its stride during the making of this, testing my Jedi mind tricks but I made it happen!

In my artwork I celebrate the biodiversity of the Gold Coast. My artwork reflects the colourful scenes of the Gold Coast: the beaches, hinterland and native flora found in the area.

I put a lot of thought into the local flora included. I have painted coastal plants such as coastal banksia, coastal wattle and grey guinea flower which is one of the many native plants that the City of Gold Coast encourages for local gardens and revegetation due to its ability to tolerate coastal conditions, including drought. You’ll also find the prickly leaved paperbark (a protected coastal plant), the swamp orchid (one of the most endangered Gold Coast flowers) and Vanilla Lily (bush tucker food). The white flowers are scented acronychia, a critically endangered small tree native to coastal areas, including the Gold Coast region. To celebrate the rainforest and hinterland in the area you’ll spot native ginger and flowering gum. This time I also added some little native bees which were keeping me company the whole mural..aww so special ❤️

My aim was to bring a fun, striking colour palette into Skyridge Botanica for its residents and visitors to the playground and park. I wanted to make it a talking piece across all demographics where you can discover something new, be educated, feel optimistic, cheerul and connect with nature.

Thank you to @artwork.public for organising this project for me (Paul and @byron_c you are total champs) and to @skyridgeliving and the team for selecting me as the artist to bring this to life!
