Aruna and I are thrilled to be part of @indiareadsaloud, a wonderful nationwide initiative by @turningpagesindia that celebrates the joy of reading and helps children discover the magic of books.

Reading aloud has always been a bonding ritual for our family. From reading elephant stories to Akhil when he was a baby, to now sharing stories together as a family, books have always brought us closer. That’s why we were especially excited to read the beloved ā€˜Gajapati Kulapati’ in both Tamil and English!

Aruna and I are delighted and honoured to be part of @indiareadsaloud, a nationwide campaign by @turningpagesindia to make every child fall in love with reading, one storybook at a time.

Reading aloud has always been a bonding ritual for our family. When Akhil was a baby I would spend hours reading elephant stories to him. So when Aruna and I got the opportunity to read ā€˜Gajapati Kulapati’ in Tamil & English, we were elated!

Read aloud to your child today. Even just 10 minutes a day makes a BIG difference!

There is relief. There is pride. And then there is the particular feeling of watching your child’s work hang in a room and knowing, he did that.

Sai Akhil Anand is 15 years old. Over the course of three and a half months, he spent 10 to 12 hours a day on each piece in Bindu & Rekha, from the earliest drafts to the works on view today.

His father, Viswanathan Anand, has known a thing or two about devotion to a practice, while his mother, Aruna Anand, witnessed every stage of this journey unfold.
Some things require a level of focus that most people spend years cultivating. Akhil is only 15, and yet it is already evident in his work. ā¤ļø

Bindu & Rekha is now open at @sgmf2020 at Gallery G, until 30th June’26.
